There goes the final whistle and United have the victory!
90' +4
Less than a minute to go here at Carrow Road and United look like they will hold on for the three points...
90' +2
G. O'Neil gets yellow.
O'Neil's frustration is evident as he concedes a free-kick and receives the first yellow card of the game.
90' +1
The fourth official raises his board to indicate that there will be five minutes of stoppage time.
90'
Norwich try to force an equaliser as they send a neat ball into the box. United deal with it far too easily, though, and that has been the story of the afternoon in all fairness.
88'
T. Fosu-Mensah enters the game and replaces M. Carrick.
United's final change sees Timothy Fosu-Mensah enter the action with Carrick making way.
85'
CHANCE! Schneiderlin darts through the middle as he latches onto a through ball. He looks to slide it past Ruddy, but drags his effort fractionally wide of the target.
84'
If United hold on, the pressure will turn to City when they take on Arsenal tomorrow. There will be just a point separating the two Manchester clubs should United see out this victory.
82'
How crucial could Mata's goal be in the relegation battle? This defeat could leave Norwich five points from safety with two games remaining if Newcastle beat Aston Villa later this afternoon.
80'
Will those changes inspire Norwich to a late fightback? We are into the final 10 minutes at Carrow Road...
Minute
Description
78'
G. Dorrans enters the game and replaces J. Howson.
M. Schneiderlin enters the game and replaces J. Lingard.
P. Bamford enters the game and replaces C. Jerome.
A United change sees Lingard make way following a quiet afternoon to be replaced by Morgan Schneiderlin.
Howson is unable to continue and Graham Dorrans takes his place.
Norwich's final change sees Patrick Bamford thrown into the action in place of Jerome.
76'
Interestingly, having been stripped off ready to enter the action, Januzaj has now been told to sit down again by Van Gaal. Meanwhile, Howson receives attention from the medical team after going down.
74'
Norwich continue to be a lucky opponent for Mata. That is the fifth goal he has scored against the Canaries in the Premier League for United and Chelsea.
72'
Mata has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by W. Rooney.
GOAL FOR UNITED!!! Mata with the breakthrough! Bassong is caught underneath the ball as Rooney latches onto a lofted pass forward. The England captain races into the box before laying off the Spaniard, who calmly slots past Ruddy.
Rooney showed great energy and composure, as he burst forward before putting the ball on a plate for Mata.
70'
Adnan Januzaj is getting stripped off and ready to come on for United. He has the ability to make something happen and Van Gaal will be hoping that is the case here.
68'
We are into the final third of this game and still searching for the breakthrough. Neither side have threatened enough in front of goal, but all of that could change as the clock ticks down.
65'
CLOSE! Rojo rises highest to meet a deep United corner. His header drifts wide of the target and there is just too much pace on it for Smalling to reach.
63'
Dieumerci Mbokani enters the game and replaces R. Brady.
Norwich make their first change as Brady makes way for Dieumerci Mbokani.
61'
United are still looking the better of the two sides in possession at Carrow Road, but they must show a lot more creativity in the final third.
59'
On a positive note for Norwich, statistics show that United are most vulnerable into the final 30 minutes. In fact, 49% of the goals they have conceded this season have come from the hour-mark onwards.
57'
The Canaries have lost five of their last seven home league games against United. Although Neil will be pleased with what he has seen so far, he will be urging his side not to sit back too much here.
54'
Norwich look to catch United out down the left flank as Olsson goes charging forward. The left-back whips a dangerous ball into the area, but De Gea collects comfortably.
52'
That was a big let-off for the hosts. They cannot afford to let United pick them apart as easily as that if they are to take anything from this game.
50'
WARNING FOR NORWICH! A sweet interchange of passes between Carrick and Mata sees Valencia get in behind the defence far too easily. Fortunately for the hosts, Martin is well-placed to make an important clearance from the subsequent cross.
48'
The last time Norwich did the double over United was during the 1989-90 season and you feel that repeating that feat here would go a long way towards securing their Premier League status.
46'
KICK-OFF! Mr Pawson blows his whistle and United get the ball rolling once more.
45' +3
Mr Pawson blows his whistle and brings the first half to an end.
45' +1
Meanwhile, the fourth official raises his board to indicate that there will be three minutes of stoppage time at the end of this first half.
44'
Depay leads the United charge down the left wing and tries to cut inside onto his right foot. However, Norwich snuff out the danger on this occasion.
42'
Norwich try to relieve the pressure they are under and are awarded a free-kick at the other end. It comes to nothing, though, and United look to quickly counter...
40'
The visitors continue to peg their opponents deep inside their own half while knocking the ball around with ease. In fact, only Arsenal and Manchester City have completed more passes in the Premier League than United this season.
37'
Depay stands over a free-kick 25 yards from goal as United look to turn their dominance into a goal, but he only succeeds in sending it straight into the wall.
35'
They need to start asking more questions of Ruddy in the Norwich goal, though. Van Gaal's men have enjoyed almost all of the possession over the past few minutes, but are yet to really the hosts' keeper.
33'
Champions League qualification is still a real possibility for United this season. They are only four points behind rivals Manchester City and still have a game in hand over Manuel Pellegrini's men.
31'
United are slowly starting to gain the upper hand in this contest. They are beginning to control possession and Norwich need to be careful here.
29'
CLOSE! The inswinging corner is met by Smalling in the six-yard box. The centre-half is unable to keep his header down, though, and that is a let-off for the hosts.
28'
Bassong is forced to head behind after Mata delivers a dangerous free-kick into the box. This would be a real hammer blow for Norwich if they were to concede here.
26'
United try to turn the tables on Norwich as they are awarded a corner at the other end. The hosts are equal to the set-piece on this occasion, though.
24'
The hosts have been on the front foot in terms of possession over the past few minutes. They just need to try and be more creative with it.
22'
Norwich are looking to take advantage of playing earlier than their relegation rivals this afternoon. With Sunderland and Newcastle not in action until later, they will be keen to apply a great deal of pressure by taking all three points here.
20'
Darmian is being carried around the field on a stretcher and his injury has certainly interrupted the flow of this match. Both sides are trying to regain their rhythm from earlier on, but to no avail at the moment.
18'
Borthwick-Jackson is one of a number of academy graduates to have been given the opportunity this season. Along with the likes of Marcus Rashford, he has certainly not shyed away when called upon.
16'
C. Borthwick-Jackson enters the game and replaces M. Darmian.
That change is made with Borthwick-Jackson replacing Darmian.
14'
It is looking very likely that Darmian will be unable to continue and that will be a huge blow for United, considering they have already lost Martial in the warm-up.
12'
There is a worrying sign here for United as Darmian goes down following an innocuous-looking tangle with Pinto. The Italian immediately raises his hand to the touchline, though, and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is getting warmed up as a precaution.
10'
A better first touch may have opened the door for Mata to score his fifth Premier League goal against Norwich. His current total of four is his best tally against any side in the top-flight.
8'
At the other end, United launch a dangerous counter-attack. Rooney plays the ball into the area looking for Mata, but his touch is too heavy before he is eventually penalised after catching an opposed defender with an outstretched leg.
6'
De Gea has kept 14 clean sheets this season and, on that evidence, it is not hard to see why. Only Kasper Schmeichel, Joe Hart and Petr Cech have kept more during the 2015-16 campaign.
4'
GREAT SAVE! De Gea comes to United's rescue once again! Jerome is completely unmarked in the six-yard area, but the keeper shows tremendous reflexes to make a fantastic save from his header.
3'
Great break from Norwich! Brady evades a couple of challenges and races into the heart of the United defence. He lays the ball out to the right for Redmond, whose cross sees Carrick make a very important intervention.
1'
KICK-OFF! Referee Craig Pawson blows his whistle and Norwich get the match underway!
Both sides need the three points for very different reasons this afternoon. Norwich can move out of the relegation zone with a victory, while United will be keen to continue their pursuit of Champions League football for next season.
Alex Neil's side were edged out 1-0 by Arsenal last weekend, courtesy of a goal from former Red Danny Welbeck. He names the same starting 11 from that game as the Canaries look to complete the double over United, having won 2-1 at Old Trafford in December. Jonny Howson continues his record of playing in every league match this season, while Wes Hoolahan will look to add to his eight assists for the season in the supporting role behind lone striker Cameron Jerome.
UNITED SUBS: Romero, Fosu-Mensah, McNair, Borthwick-Jackson, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Januzaj.
HERE THEY COME! The players are making their way out onto the field and kick-off is just moments away in East Anglia...
Good afternoon and welcome to LIVE text commentary of the Barclays Premier League. We're at Carrow Road for this crucial encounter between Norwich City and Manchester United.
UNITED (4-1-4-1): De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Rojo, Darmian; Carrick; Lingard, Mata, Herrera, Depay; Rooney.
Louis van Gaal makes four changes to the United side that were held to a 1-1 draw by newly crowned champions Leicester City last weekend. Matteo Darmian comes in at left-back, with Marcos Rojo moving across to take Daley Blind's place in the heart of defence. Memphis Depay and Juan Mata come into the midfield as Marcus Rashford and the suspended Marouane Fellaini makes way, while Ander Herrera replaces Anthony Martial who was injured in the warm-up.
HALF-TIME: NORWICH 0-0 MAN UNITED
Norwich will be the happier with this scoreline at half-time. They started well but were very much on the back foot as the half wore on. Neil will try to encourage his players during this break.
Van Gaal will just tell his United players to be more creative after the break. They have been very dominant in possession, but need to turn it into goals in the second half.
The players are making their way back out onto the field and the second half is about to get underway...
FULL-TIME: NORWICH 0-1 MAN UNITED
United move to within a point of fourth-place Manchester City, who will be looking over their shoulders when they play Arsenal tomorrow. The Champions League is still very much in reach for Van Gaal's men. Norwich, on the other hand, will be hoping that Sunderland and Newcastle both slip up later this afternoon as their quest for survival takes a huge hit.
That's all from Carrow Road. Thank you for following the LIVE action of the Barclays Premier League - hope you've enjoyed it. Until next time, have a very good afternoon!
