Pjanic and Bonaventura battle for the ball after the latter cuts inside from the left wing, and the Bosnian ends up giving away a free-kick in a dangerous position with just 30 seconds of the game left to play. The number 28 steps up and unleashes an excellent shot from the set-piece that looks set for the top left-hand corner of the net, but Szczesny is there to push the strike away with a brilliant diving save.
90' +2
Honda patiently jogs towards the edge of the Roma penalty area as he waits for Romagnoli to rush down the left wing and join him in a late attack. He eventually does so and then tries to pick out Adriano with a curling low cross into the middle of the box, but it's underhit by the full-back and is easily cut out by Manolas before it can find the Brazilian.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
88'
It's all kicking off! Rudiger and Bonaventura clash off the ball after the defender pulls back the latter on the touchline, and a huge fracas immediately breaks out. Several players start pushing each other before Kucka runs 40 yards to get involved in the action, and he is then descended upon by white shirts. Both managers look unimpressed with the action from their players, and after a few moments of pushing and shoving, the referee is finally able to deal with the outburst before the game resumes once again.
86'
C. Bacca has scored a goal for AC Milan!
GOAL! Milan have pulled one back late on! Calabria twists and turns deep down the right flank before whipping a beautiful cross towards the near post, where it finds Bacca. The Colombian forces Szczesny into making a save with a strong chest towards goal, but the Polish goalkeeper is unable to hold on to the ball and spills it back to the striker, who then easily pokes it into the back of the net for a consolation goal for the Rossoneri.
85'
E. Džeko enters the game and replaces Mohamed Salah.
Dzeko comes on to replace Salah, who receives a rousing round of applause from the Roma fans as he makes his way off the pitch at the end of what has been a great season for the Egyptian.
84'
Pjanic almost makes it 4-0! Totti breaks towards the Milan penalty area before once again finding Salah, who penetrates the right-hand side of the box and then cuts a pass back to Pjanic. The Bosnian is in acres of space and immediately tries to fire a curling shot into the back of the net, but this time Donnarumma is able to stop the effort and keep hold of it after spilling it slightly.
82'
Emerson has scored a goal for Roma!
GOAL! It's 3-0! Totti weaves his way into the Milan penalty are before setting up Salah with a lovely backheel into the path of the Egyptian. He takes a quick touch before forcing Donnarumma into making a great diving save with his right hand, but he can only parry the ball into the path of Emerson, who then easily taps a shot into the back of an empty from close range. It's gone from bad to worse for the hosts, who have been dreadful tonight!
80'
So close from Romagnoli! Milan push forward down the left wing and do well to earn themselves a corner, but it's dealt with well by Szczesny and fails to result in a chance on goal. The ball bounces out to the right wing, however, and is picked up by Honda, and the Japan international then swings a dangerous cross into the middle of the box. It looks set to find Romagnoli, who is in an excellent position in front of goal, but he's beaten to the ball by Rudiger at the vital moment.
78'
Emerson enters the game and replaces S. El Shaarawy.
El Shaarawy receives a round of applause from both sets of fans as he makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by Emerson for the final 12 minutes.

Description
77'
What a chance for Totti! The veteran muscles his way towards the edge of the Milan penalty area before playing a quick one-two with Salah. He then breaks into the box and looks set to test Donnarumma with a rocket of a shot, but just as he's about to pull the trigger, Kucka dives in and dispossesses the striker with an excellent interception at the vital moment.
75'
It's end to end stuff at the moment as Milan desperately push further up the pitch in search of a way back into the game. By doing so they're leaving so many spaces available at the back, however, and Roma are continuing to pick them apart every time they hit the hosts on the counter. If things remain this way, the visitors could end up bagging themselves another goal before the end of the night.
73'
What a chance for Honda! De Sciglio breaks down the left flank before cutting inside and chipping a dangerous cross over towards the far post. The Japanese midfielder beats both Rudiger and Digne in the air before sending a bullet header towards goal, but Szczesny does wonderfully well to parry away the effort on goal with a brilliant diving save.
71'
Another chance for Bonaventura! Milan push forward on a quick counter down the right wing, and they're just about able to keep it alive despite a poor pass from Bacca making life difficult for Adriano. The Brazilian is just about able to lay the ball off to Bonaventura, who immediately unleashes a thumping volley that is on target but easily saved by Szczesny at the near post.
70'
After spending the vast majority of the second half firmly on the back foot, Milan are finally able to push forward and get a shot away. It's Bonaventura who does well to charge towards the box before trying to test Szczesny from the left-hand side of the Roma penalty area, but there's slightly too much power behind the strike and it ends up clearing the top of the crossbar by a yard or two.
68'
Roma patiently pass the ball around deep inside the Milan half of the pitch, with Florenzi playing an important role in the attacking move. The right-back cuts inside before finding Pjanic, who then works the ball over to Totti on the edge of the penalty area, but the veteran striker is too slow in possession and is unable to get a shot away before being dispossessed.
66'
D. Calabria enters the game and replaces Alex.
Milan have made their final change of the game, with Alex, who has struggled to deal with El Shaarawy and Salah tonight, making way for young Calabria.
65'
Milan are starting to see slightly more of the ball now, but they are continuing to struggle whenever they try to push forwrd. Bacca and Adriano have both failed to make much of an impact inside the final third of the pitch, and as a result it's been an incredibly easy evening for the Roma defenders, who have had very little to do thus far.
63'
F. Totti enters the game and replaces K. Strootman.
Fantastic save by Donnarumma! Pjanic lays off the ball to Totti, whose first involvement in the game is to unleash a rocket of a strike. It takes a deflection off Alex and looks set to find the bottom left-hand corner of the net, but the Milan goalkeeper does wonderfully well to push the effort away from goal with an excellent one-handed stop.
62'
Before the free-kick can be taken, Roma make their first alteration of the evening by bringing on Totti to replace Strootman, who has had an excellent game.
61'
G. Donnarumma gets yellow.
Big decision by the referee! Bonaventura blasts the ball away from danger on the right wing and back towards Donnarumma, who takes a touch with his feet before picking up the ball midway inside his penalty area. The man in charge immediately blows his whistle and awards Roma an indirect free-kick, which the young goalkeeper looks completely bemused about. He reacts angrily and vehemently argues his case, which results in him being shown a yellow card for dissent.
59'
S. El Shaarawy has scored a goal for Roma! Assist by M. Pjanić.
Assist Miralem Pjanić
GOAL! Roma have doubled their lead! Once again, the visitors comfortably hold on to possession deep inside the Milan half of the pitch as they patiently work the ball around under very little pressure. Pjanic finds himself in a pocket of space and quickly sends a beautiful lofted pass over the top of the hosts' defence and into the path of El Shaarawy, who easily beats both Alex and Mexes before slotting a half-volley under the body of Donnarumma and into the back of the net. That was a brilliantly worked goal!
57'
G. Bonaventura enters the game and replaces A. Bertolacci.
Milan have made their second change of the night, and it's a positive one, with Bonaventura coming on to take the place of Bertolacci.
56'
Luiz Adriano gets yellow.
Adriano lunges into Manolas in an attempt to reach the ball but ends up stepping on the back of the defender's ankle, and as a result he becomes the latest Milan player to be shown a yellow card.
55'
Roma patiently work the ball around deep inside the Milan half of the pitch before Florenzi takes the hosts' defence by surprise by suddenly bursting towards the box. He weaves past two defenders before firing a low shot from the edge of the penalty area, but his effort on goal doesn't have enough power behind it to beat Donnarumma in the middle of the goal.
54'
P. Mexès gets yellow.
Mexes has really struggled tonight, and once again he's made to work hard by Nainggolan, who comfortably beats him for pace. Unable to catch up with the midfield, the Frenchman tugs at his shirt from behind as the two battle for the ball and ends up earning himself a yellow card.
53'
A half-hearted Milan attack breaks down, and Roma immeditely hit them on the counter-attack. A lofted pass from Pjanic is flung forward and flies into the path of Salah, but the Egyptian's first touch off his thigh is far too heavy and sends the ball bouncing into the hands of Donnarumma before he can get a shot away.
51'
Fantastic cross by Florenzi! The right-back is causing plenty of problems down the wing, and Romagnoli is struggling to deal with him. This time he breaks towards the byline before firing a dangerous pass across the face of goal, and it's one that misses the outstretched foot of Nainggolan by the narrowest of margins. The ball is picked up by El Shaarawy over on the opposite flank, however, but he's unable to find a way past Alex, who does well to out-muscle the forward before shepherding the ball out of play for a goal-kick.
50'
What a miss by Honda! Milan push forward on arguably their best attacking move of the evening, with Bacca breaking towards the edge of the box before teeing up Adriano with an excellent through-ball. The Brazilian sprints into the right-hand side of the penalty area and immediately cuts a pass back that deflects into the path of the Japan international, who is in acres of space inside the box, but he completely mishits his shot and ends up sending it sailing several yards over the top of the crossbar.
48'
Roma immediately burst up the other end of the pitch and try to create a chance on goal for themselves. Salah does wonderfully to weave past two defenders before poking a great through-ball into the path of El Shaarawy, but the forward is unable to get a shot away after being forced out wide. He can pick out Florenzi, however, but the right-back is quickly closed down by Romagnoli and has to settle for a throw-in near to the corner flag.
47'
Milan immediately go on the front foot as Romagnoli bursts down the left wing on a determined run. He spins past Florenzi with ease and heads towards the edge of the Roma penalty area before trying to curl a cross into the box, but he undoes all of his good work at the last moment with a poor pass that fails to beat the first man.
46'
Luiz Adriano enters the game and replaces M. Balotelli.
Milan have made one substitution during the half-time break, with Adriano coming on to replace Balotelli.
And we're underway once again!
45'
It's all Roma at the moment as they patiently hold on to the ball inside the Milan half of the pitch. Nainngolan then tees up El Shaarawy, who flies into the left-hand side of the penalty area before skipping past Alex and trying to play a one-two with Pjanic. The Bosnian is unable to pick out the on-loan forward, however, and the hosts are just about able to keep the determined visitors at bay in what will surely be the final attack of the first half.
43'
Chance for Florenzi! Pjanic flies towards the edge of the Milan penalty area and is left in far too much space by the hosts' defenders. He then pokes a pass into the path of Salah, who instead of shooting decides to spin and work the ball back to the right-back. He immediately tries to beat Donnarumma with a low shot from just outside of the box, but the young goalkeeper does well to get down low quickly to keep the effort from finding the back of the net.
41'
Balotelli, who has arguably been Milan's biggest attacking threat thus far, twists and turns midway inside the Roma half of the pitch before being pushed to the ground by Strootman, resulting in a free-kick for the hosts. The striker then sends yet another dangerous cross into the penalty area, but this time none of his teammates show enough urgency in trying to attack it and the ball ends up bouncing out of play for a goal-kick.
39'
Balotelli muscles his way into the left-hand side of the Roma penalty area before unleashing a cross-cum-shot from close range, but it takes a deflection off the outstretched foot of Florenzi that sends the ball bouncing out for a corner. The Milan striker sends a dangerous cross into the box but it fails to result in a clear chance on goal, despite it picking out Kucka in front of goal.
37'
Lovely one-touch football from Roma results in De Rossi having the opportunity to penetrate the Milan penalty area, but he's dispossessed at the vital moment and is unable to do so. The ball bounces out to Pjanic, however, and the Bosnian then tees up Nainggolan over on the right wing, but the Belgian's swinging cross towards El Shaarawy is completely mishit and fails to pick out a white shirt inside the box.
35'
Fantasic opportunity for El Shaarawy! Roma keep coming back at Milan and continue causing the hosts all sorts of problems. This time it's Digne who flies into the box before sending a dangerous cross across the face of goal, where it almost finds the forward. He's in a great position and only needs to make slight contact with the ball to send it into the back of the net, but he completely mistimes his strike and is unable to do so.
33'
What a save by Donnarumma! Once again, Salah uses his pace to penetrate the Milan penalty area with ease before sprinting towards the byline. He spins quickly and this time is able to pick out Pjanic, who immediately unleashes a thumping low strike, but the young goalkeeper does wonderfully well to push the shot away from the bottom left-hand corner of the net with an excellent stop.
31'
Vital clearance by Manolas! Balotelli muscles his way into the left-hand side of the Roma box before poking a pass over towards Honda. It finds the Japanese midfielder on the edge of the penalty area and he immediately unleashes a low shot that Szczesny can only push into the path of Bacca. The Colombian looks set to poke the ball into the back of the net from close range, but the Greek defender does wonderfully well to thump it away before the linesman's flag is eventually raised for offside.
29'
Salah is causing the Milan back line all sorts of problems with his pace, and it's going to be a constant feature of tonight's game if the hosts don't make a change soon. This time the Egyptian sprints into the right-hand side of the hosts' penalty area and heads towards the byline before trying to send a chipped cross back towards Pjanic, who is in a good position in front of goal, but Donnarumma does well to cut out the danger before the pass can find the Bosnian.
27'
Honda and Florenzi clash in the air before the latter seems to stretch his groin whilst going for the ball, and it leaves him on the ground and in some discomfort. His manager looks worried that this could be a serious injury, but after spending a few moments on the floor the right-back is able to get back to his feet and continue.
25'
Roma patiently work their way down the left wing before Digne tries to beat Kucka with an overhead kick, but he's pushed to the ground by the Slovakian and wins his side a free-kick in an advantageous position. Pjanic steps up and tries to curl a cross into the middle of the box, but it's poorly hit and fails to beat the first man.
23'
Milan have barely had a sniff on goal thus far, but they're finally able to push forward on a decent attacking move thanks to good play by Honda. The Japan international breaks towards the edge of the Roma box before poking a through-ball into the path of Bacca, but Digne is there and does well to clear the ball out for a corner, which fails to result in a chance on goal for the hosts after Balotelli's cross doesn't pick out a red and black shirt.
21'
M. Locatelli gets yellow.
Locatelli charges into Nainggolan and gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position before earning the first yellow card of the game, and his career. The resulting set-piece fails to result in a chance on goal for Roma, however, as Pjanic's cross out to the right wing is poor and Milan are quickly able to win back possession.
19'
Mohamed Salah has scored a goal for Roma! Assist by K. Strootman.
That was a beautiful pick-out by Strootman but the Milan defence made it far too easy for the Dutchman. Mexes was caught ball-watching whilst Alex played Salah onside, and it made it incredibly easy for the Egyptian to penetrate the back line before latching on to the midfielder's chipped pass.
GOAL! Roma have taken the lead! A poor pass from Locatelli can only find a white shirt, and Roma quickly break away on a swift counter-attack. Strootman charges through the middle of the pitch before lifting a lovely chipped pass over the top of the Milan defence and into the path of Salah, who bursts into the penalty area completely unopposed before side-footing an excellent shot past Donnarumma and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. That goal was coming, and Milan only have themselves to blame.
18'
Another mistake by a Milan player results in a chance on goal for Roma. This time it's Honda whose attempted headed clearance loops up into the air and into the path of Nainggolan, who immediately brings the ball down and charges into the left-hand side of the box before firing a low strike just wide of the near post. The hosts are all over the place at the back, and it's making life incredibly easy for their opponents.
16'
What a chance for Salah! A terrible attempted back pass from Alex rolls straight into the feet of the Egyptian, who immediately breaks past Mexes before sprinting into the Milan penalty area. He heads towards the near post before trying to curl a strike past Donnarumma and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net, but his effort is scuffed slightly and ends up missing its intended target by a yard or two.
14'
So far, Roma have spent the majority of their time camped just outside of the Milan penalty area, but they are struggling to find a way into the hosts' box. This time it's Pjanic who twists and turns before working the ball over to El Shaarawy, but the forward is unable to get a shot away before De Sciglio steals the ball from under his nose and tries to kick-start a counter-attack down the left wing.
12'
Rudiger flies into Balotelli and brings the striker crashing to the ground with a reckless sliding challenge from behind, and the referee immediately awards Milan a free-kick in a very dangerous position on the right wing. The on-loan Italian steps up and curls a great cross into the heart of the Roma box, but Szczesny is there to punch the ball away from danger at the vital moment.
10'
The first shot of the game is taken by Balotelli after he finds himself in a pocket of space 25 yards away from the Roma goal. The striker's thumping effort has far too much power behind it, however, and ends up sailing comfortably wide of the goal. The visitors immediately break forward from the restart before Nainggolan tries to test Donnarumma from a similar position at the other end of the pitch, but his shot ends up rolling a few yards wide of the far post.
8'
Once again, Florenzi and Salah link up deep down the right wing before the Egyptian tries to break into the Milan penalty area. This time he's just about able to skip past Romagnoli before trying to poke a pass over to Pjanic, who is in a good position on the edge of the box, but Locatelli beats the Bosnian to the ball and stops him from reaching it.
6'
After a slow start to the game, Milan are finally able to get on to the ball for an extended period of time before trying to hit Roma on the counter. Bertolacci picks up possession just inside the hosts' half of the pitch before trying to pick out Bacca with a lofted pass into the penalty area, but there's too much power behind the ball forward and it ends up sailing over the head of the striker before bouncing into the hands of Szczesny.
4'
Florenzi breaks down the right flank before sending a super pass straight into the feet of Salah, who is just outside of the Milan penalty area. He tries to take on Romagnoli but is forced into spinning back before playing a quick one-two with Pjanic, but once again the defender is there to get in the way of the Egyptian and deny him the opportunity to penetrate the hosts. The ball eventually finds its way to Manolas, but he panics under pressure and sends a poor pass back towards the halfway line.
2'
Roma immediately put Milan under plenty of pressure and force Donnarumma into firing the ball out of play for a throw-in on the right wing. It's taken quickly and worked over to Florenzi, who then swings a looping cross towards Pjanic inside the hosts' penalty area, but it's slightly overhit by the right-back and ends up missing the Bosnian before bouncing over to the opposite flank.
1'
And we're off! Roma get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Serie A game between Milan and Roma at San Siro.
It’s now or never for Milan, who head into tonight’s game one point away from a possible place in next season’s Europa League after suffering a bitterly disappointing season. A series of lacklustre results ended in Sinisa Mihajlovic losing his job just over a month ago, but since then they have managed to win just twice under caretaker boss Cristian Brocchi. They did narrowly beat Bologna last weekend, however, and it means that they are still in with a chance of qualifying for Europe if they avoid losing against Roma and Sassuolo are beaten by Inter. A win against Juventus in the final of the Coppa Italia will also result in the Rossoneri featuring in the Europa League, but with the league champions in such good form at the moment, that is set to be a tall order for a side that look bereft of confidence.
As for Roma, they are guaranteed a place in the Champions League next season but will be looking to enter the competition at the group stage ahead of Napoli, the team with whom they have been fighting tooth and nail over the past few weeks. The Azzurri currently sit two points ahead in second place, but a defeat for them against Frosinone coupled with a Roma victory tonight will send the latter side above them at the last minute. Luciano Spalletti’s men will certainly feel confident about their chances of winning today, as they head to San Siro as Serie A’s in-form side. Last weekend’s comfortable 3-0 victory at home to Chievo was their fourth in a row and extended their unbeaten run to 16 games, the best in the division after Juventus’ shock defeat against Hellas Verona six days ago. The Giallorossi are also the league’s highest scorers with 80 from 37 clashes, 32 more than Milan have managed during the same period.
Milan XI (4-3-1-2): Donnarumma; De Sciglio, Mexes, Alex, Romagnoli; Kucka, Locatelli, Bertolacci; Honda; Bacca, Balotelli.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up evening…
Roma substitutes: Castan, Dzeko, Totti, Maicon, Falque, De Sanctis, Emerson, Torosidis, Zukanovic, Sadiq.
Roma XI (4-3-1-2): Szczesny; Florenzi, Manolas, Rudiger, Digne; Nainggolan, De Rossi, Strootman; Pjanic; Salah, El Shaarawy.
Milan substitutes: Lopez, Mauri, Adriano, Poli, Zapata, Montolivo, Simic, Bonaventura, Abbiati, Bordi, Boateng, Calabria.
Cristian Brocchi has decided to make four changes to the Milan side that started the win away to Bologna last weekend, with Alex, Manuel Locatelli, Andrea Bertolacci and Mario Balotelli coming into the starting line-up to replace Davide Calabria, Riccardo Montolivo, Jose Mauri and Luiz Adriano, all of whom feature on the substitutes’ bench. This is set to be Locatelli’s first ever Serie A start, with the youngster’s only previous appearance coming at the end of last month’s goalless draw with Carpi.
Meanwhile, Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has made just one alteration to the side that featured in their last Serie A outing, with Diego Perotti making way for Kevin Strootman, who slots into the Giallorossi midfield.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: MILAN 0-1 ROMA
Boos ring around the stadium as the two sides make their way off the pitch, and they certainly aren't coming from the Roma fans. The visitors are currently on course for a second-place finish if things remain as they are, and Milan have certainly been making their job easier for them. The hosts defence have been all over the place whenever their opponents push forward, and Salah and El Shaarawy are constantly finding plenty of space due to their pace inside the final third of the pitch. The Egyptian has been particularly dangerous with the ball at his feet, and it's his 19th-minute strike that currently separates the two teams heading into the final 45 minutes of the Serie A season.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: MILAN 1-3 ROMA
The referee blows his whistle for the final time and the Milan players are immediately showered with boos. That seems to be a reaction not just to today's performance but to their side's efforts over the course of what has been a very disappointing season, and another defeat means that they have finished in seventh place. As a result, they must now beat Juventus in the Coppa Italia final if they are to qualify for the Europa League, otherwise the European place goes to sixth-place Sassuolo. Roma, meanwhile, end the campaign on an excellent 17-game unbeaten run and finish a great season in third place, two points behind Napoli but in the play-offs of the Champions League.
