However, the Sassuolo man has difficulty of his own with the wet pitch as loses possession at the vital moment in his link-up with Defrel.

An even contest so far in terms of possession, but the home side hold the narrow lead. Mancini will be frustrated to concede such a cheap goal, and he may have to alter his tactics now to get back into the contest.

We're underway at the Stadio Citta del Tricolore.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Serie A clash between Sassuolo and Inter Milan.
Inter are locked into fourth place in the table, and are guaranteed European football for next season. However, Roberto Mancini will want his side to end their campaign on a strong note by defeating Sassuolo this evening.
The teams have been announced and we'll start with the home side.
It's an important evening for Sassuolo as they can definitely secure a place in the Europa League, although they will need Fiorentina to lose their final match of the campaign along with a nine-goal swing in goal difference. Eusebio Di Francesco's men will know that sixth may not be good enough for a place in Europe, pending the outcome of the Coppa Italia when Milan play Juventus. However, they will want to sign off their campaign with a victory no matter what this evening.
Inter (4-3-3): Carrizo; D'Ambrosio, Murillo, Juan Jesus, Telles; Brozovic, Melo, Kondogbia; Jovetic, Eder, Palacio
Inter subs: Bonetto, Manaj, Gnoukouri, Jose Correia, Radu, Biabiany, Gyamfi, Miangue, Santon, Nagatomo, Baldini, Della Giovanna.
Sassuolo are without Domenico Berardi this evening due to suspensions, while Karim Laribi and Emanuele Terranova miss out due to injury. As a result, Matteo Politano leads the line supported by Gregoire Defrel and Nicola Sansone in the front three. Marcello Gazzola comes into the starting line-up to replace Sime Vrsaljko, who drops to the bench.
Inter have made five changes this evening, two of which are forced as keeper Samir Handanovic and Ivan Perisic are suspended. Juan Pablo Carrizo and Rodrigo Palacio slot into the line-up, while Jeison Murillo, Alex Telles and Eder also come into the fold for Mancini's men.
Slight delay to kick-off as the teams are late in arriving on the pitch.
The players are out on the pitch at last, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: Sassuolo 3-1 Inter
An entertaining half of football with four goals. Sassuolo have been the more clinical of the two sides and as a result hold a 3-1 lead at the break thanks to a brace from Matteo Politano and a strike from Lorenzo Pellegrini. The home side have been very efficient in the final third, capitalising on poor defending from Inter to take command of the game. Roberto Mancini's men have not been terrible going forward, but they're leaving far too much space for Sassuolo to exploit on the counter. The Italian will want to see a lot more from his team in the second period, especially Stevan Jovetic.
The players are returning to the pitch, so we should be back underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: Sassuolo 3-1 Inter
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Sassuolo all but secure their spot in the Europa League next season by finishing in sixth place in Serie A thanks to their victory this evening. They will now face a nervous wait to see the result of the Coppa Italia final when Juventus meet Milan next week. They were by far the better side as a brace from Matteo Politano and a strike from Lorenzo Pellegrini were enough to claim the three points. Rodrigo Palacio netted Inter's goal, while Danilo D'Ambrosio had an effort controversially ruled out and Jeison Murillo was dismissed for two bookable offences. Not a good night for Mancini and his team, who have a lot of work ahead of them in the summer to recapture their former glory.
