And we're off! Watford get us underway here at Vicarage Road...
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of Watford v Sunderland at Vicarage Road. The visitors' Premier League safety is now secured following their victory in midweek and are guaranteed a 17th place finish no matter what the result is here today. Watford meanwhile could still finish as high as 11th in their first season back in the Premier League if results go their way, as they look to send off departing manager Quique Sanchez Flores with a win.
Watford have lost their last two games, both of which were away from home. Last weekend they lost 2-0 against Liverpool, before losing 4-2 at Norwich in midweek and the only positive to come out of that defeat was a goal from Odion Ighalo, his first in 12 games. Just days later it was announced that the Watford boss would leave the club at the end of the season, despite guiding them to 13th position in the Premier League, following their promotion from the Championship last season.
Quique Sanchez Flores makes three changes to his Watford side today in his final game with the club. Sebastian Prödl, Nathan Ake and Adlene Guedioura replace Allan Nyom, Ikechi Anya and Mario Suarez.
Nine changes for Sunderland today, only DeAndre Yedlin and Lamine Kone retain their place in the starting 11 from the side that played on Wednesday night. Rees Greenwood and Thomas Robson come into the side for their first team debuts, plus George Honeyman is on the bench. Jordan Pickford is starting in goal for the Black Cats today, for only his second Premier League start for the club.
In contrast, Sunderland are unbeaten in their last five league games, a run which includes victories over Chelsea and more importantly Everton. Their 3-0 mid-week win over the Toffees secured the Black Cats top-flight safety, whilst also relegating Norwich City and their bitter rivals Newcastle United in the process. Sunderland were in the relegation zone for a tremendous 237 days this season but managed to survive, whilst Aston Villa will have been in the relegation zone 233 days by the end of the season.
The teams are out of the tunnel ahead of the final game of the Premier League, kick off is imminent.
Can Watford turn things around? The Hornets won 29 points from their first 18 matches this season, however they have taken just 15 from their subsequent 19 games.
Sunderland have performed well so far at Vicarage Road, taking the lead through Rodwell's 39th minute goal. They have been able to limit Watford to long-range shots from outside the box and the Black Cats have had the better chances and found the back of the net twice, but the latter was ruled offside.
An exciting game here at Vicarage Road comes to an end! Sunderland took the lead twice in the game through Rodwell and Lens but were pegged back by a Prodl header and a Deeney penalty. Watford wrapping up there season with a fine performance for their departing manager.
That's all from us at Vicarage Road today. Thanks for joining us and enjoy the rest of your day. Goodbye!
