It doesn't look as though anyone has much of an interest in playing out these final minutes. The ball has hardly left the midfield third, and it's been a while since we have seen more than a jog from one of these players.
90'
There will be three minutes added on at the end of this match.
89'
Spain are currently ranked just outside the top-seven of the current FIFA World Rankings, meaning if the draw were held tomorrow for the World Cup, they would be in Pot Two. So this may be a friendly, but there's certainly plenty at stake for them to make the leap into the top pot.
87'
STAT: Spain have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven matches against CONCACAF nations.
85'
The 5-0 scoreline almost isn't enough of a reflection of just how dominant Spain were tonight. There's still several months to go before the World Cup, but La Roja have to be liking where they're at right now. The same certainly cannot be said of Costa Rica.
83'
Costa Rica are being afforded a bit of time to pass it around here. It may be a lack of motivation, or perhaps a lack of quality, but whatever the reason is, they're doing nothing with it, despite Spain inviting them forward.
81'
The tempo has completely dwindled now with the scoreline a bit outrageous. Spain are patiently knocking it around near midfield, with Costa Rica providing little resistance.
79'
The supporters here in Malaga have taken out their phones for a bit of a light display! It's a half-hearted effort, with only about a fifth of the stadium catching on - but there's nothing half-hearted about what Spain have done here tonight.
77'
STAT: With two goals tonight, David Silva moves to within three (35) of Fernando Torres (38) for third on Spain's all-time list of top scorers.

Description
75'
O. Rodríguez enters the game and replaces J. Venegas.
A Costa Rica change here sees Venegas replaced by Osvaldo Rodriguez.
74'
Luis Alberto enters the game and replaces Andrés Iniesta.
Luis Alberto, who spent some time in this stadium while on loan at Lazio, comes on for his first international cap, replacing Iniesta himself. What a moment for him.
73'
Andrés Iniesta has scored a goal for Spain! Assist by Marc Bartra.
Bartra provides the assist.
A MOMENT TO SAVOUR! Spain's maestro caps off a five-star performance for his side with an excellent strike, charging forward and driving a well-struck effort beyond a full-stretch Carvajal and into the bottom corner!
71'
Spain will be looking ahead now to their date with the 2018 hosts Russia on Tuesday, while Costa Rica travel to Hungary next. The CONCACAF outfit simply could not measure up today, a troubling sign with the World Cup inching closer.
69'
STAT: Julen Lopetegui is the second manager in Spain's history to remain unbeaten in his first 14 games in charge (W11 D3), after Luis Aragones (W17 D8).
67'
Thiago Alcântara gets yellow.
Thiago becomes the first Spanish player booked on the night.
66'
R. Matarrita enters the game and replaces B. Oviedo.
Another change now, this made by the visitors, as young talent Ronald Matarrita replaces Oviedo.
65'
Marco Asensio enters the game and replaces Isco.
Marco Asensio comes on to a welcome reception, following a terrific applause for Isco, who gives way here.
64'
Isco signals over to the touchline for a substitution as David Silva takes the free-kick, but Costa Rica are able to clear their lines. Spain have more reason to pile it on now if these types of challenges continue.
63'
K. Gutiérrez enters the game and replaces K. Waston.
Watson is immediately withdrawn as Isco is tended to by the training staff on the pitch. Kenner Gutierrez comes on in his place.
62'
K. Waston gets yellow.
Watson is issued the first yellow card of the night for a late and harsh challenge on Isco. He caught him dangerously on the follow-through, which has really upset these Spanish supporters.
60'
R. Wallace enters the game and replaces C. Bolaños.
Rodney Wallace is brought on with the third Costa Rica change, replacing Bolanos.
58'
STAT: Spain have kept a clean sheet in four successive matches.
56'
G. González enters the game and replaces Ó. Duarte.
J. Ortiz enters the game and replaces M. Ureña.
Urena gives way with the other substitution, his place taken by Jose Ortiz.
Two changes here for Costa Rica, the first of which sees Giancarlo Gonzalez replace Duarte.
55'
David Silva has scored a goal for Spain!
IT'S GETTING UGLY IN MALAGA! If you're a Costa Rica supporter, that is. This is a work of brilliance from Spain - David Silva especially. The winger robs Oviedo of the ball on the flank with a terrific challenge before bursting into the area and beating Carvajal, who should have done better there.
54'
Fractions wide! Aspas picks up where Morata left off, making a dazzling run into the area before teeing up Silva, but the Manchester City attacker's first-time effort goes wide at the near post!
53'
Spain in full control here early in the second half. The result isn't at all in doubt, and never really was for that matter. It's become a case of how many now.
51'
David Silva has scored a goal for Spain!
THAT'S THREE! Costa Rica architects of their own downfall here as a clearance attempt from Calvo smacks off a team-mate and straight into the path of David Silva, a bit fortunately, who picks out the smallest opening at the far post for Spain's third of the night.
50'
NO PENALTY! Urena gets into a dangerous position in the penalty area before going to ground, and for a brief moment it looked as though maybe a penalty was on the horizon, but the decision goes the way of Spain.
48'
Spain pick up where they left off in that first half, knocking the ball around calmly and confidently here. Even with the four changes, they don't appear to have missed a beat, still looking very much in rhythm at the moment.
46'
Iago Aspas enters the game and replaces Álvaro Morata.
Marc Bartra enters the game and replaces Piqué.
Saúl enters the game and replaces Sergio Busquets.
Nacho enters the game and replaces Sergio Ramos.
A wealth of changes made by Spain at half-time, starting with Marc Bartra who replaces Pique.
Busquets gives way for Saul.
Iago Aspas comes on in place of Morata.
Ramos is replaced by Nacho.
Here we go again!
45'
HALF-TIME: SPAIN 2-0 COSTA RICA.
43'
Pressure continues to mount here in the dying embers of the first half as Spain pile it on. Corner after corner, attack after attack, as Costa Rica desperately need to get through these final two minutes without conceding again.
41'
WHAT. A. SAVE! Sumptuous throughball from Isco there to play Morata clean through, as the offside flag rightfully stays down, but Carvajal reacts stunningly to get a paw to Morata's effort, turning him aside from point-blank range!
39'
CLOSE! Morata at it again here, taking a pass and dazzling with his footwork inside the penalty area to carve out a bit of space for a shot, but his effort is straight at Carvajal!
37'
STAT: Costa Rica have lost just one of their last nine matches against European opposition, in Spain in 2015 (W3 D5).
35'
Morata wins a free-kick in a dangerous area, just over 20 yards out and slightly off to the left of the goal. Isco takes, and he bends a terrific effort in towards the near post, but Carvajal flies across to make an outstanding save!
33'
Spain are back to their patient approach here, knocking it around tidily near the halfway line as they await an opening. Costa Rica are pressing, but Spain refuse to be hurried - one of their more admirable qualities.
31'
NEARLY A THIRD! Chances everywhere now as the pace really picks up. Silva slips through Odriozola, who attempts to pull it back for Isco, but Gamboa reads it smartly to bundle the ball behind for a corner.
29'
That had to be in! Best attack of the night from Costa Rica, bar none, as they burst into the area with plenty in support. Gamboa flashes a welcome delivery across the face of goal, but Venegas just fails to make contact with it! It only needed the slightest of touches!
27'
STAT: Spain are unbeaten in their last nine matches against CONCACAF opposition, dating back to a 2-0 defeat to USA in the 2009 Confederations Cup (W7 D2).
25'
This has not gone according to script for Costa Rica, who have had no answer for this free-flowing Spanish attack. They need to make some adjustments on the fly here and find a way to get themselves back into the game.
23'
Álvaro Morata has scored a goal for Spain!
SPAIN DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! David Silva is played into the area and his ball across the face of goal is cut out by Carvajal, but the keeper knocks it straight into the path of Morata who tucks a simple finish into the empty net!
22'
A free-kick on the right flank results in an inviting delivery from David Silva, bent in tidily towards the far post, but Costa Rica do well to clear their lines with conviction. Again they fail to break out of their end, however, and the pressure is right back on them.
20'
Spain continue to look a threat with each attack, but Costa Rica are managing to do a better job of keeping the ball here, at least fending Spain off a bit between each attack and slowing their momentum.
18'
STAT: Spain have won just six of their last 14 friendlies (D4 L4). They were held goalless in five of those matches.
16'
Finally a chance for Costa Rica to break, and they have numbers forward as Spain are caught short in defence, but a foul in midfield brings the opportunity to a premature halt. That's a disappointment for the visitors.
14'
One-way traffic right now as Spain continue to pile the pressure on. Costa Rica have to find a way to keep the ball, at least for a little while, because this could get out of hand otherwise.
12'
Lovely skill from Morata to dribble his way beyond a few defenders and into the area, but he's unable to beat Carvajal at his near post from a tight angle, instead having to settle for a corner. Spain look more than up for the occasion here.
10'
It's getting awfully rowdy inside the stadium as these Spain supporters make their voices heard, showing great appreciation for their excellent start. Costa Rica are a bit shell-shocked, but they're working to get themselves back into a rhythm here.
8'
STAT: Spain are unbeaten in their last 14 matches across all competitions (W11 D3).
6'
Jordi Alba has scored a goal for Spain! Assist by David Silva.
Assist David Josué Jiménez Silva
AND THERE'S THE OPENER! It took just over five minutes for Spain to find the breakthrough! David Silva is sprawled out on the ground but somehow knocks the ball across for Jordi Alba, who places a composed first-time finish back across and in at the far post!
5'
Spain are really starting to get their footing in the match now. They're attacking with good determination and have Costa Rica on their heels. They look to have a real thirst for goals, La Roja do.
3'
Both sides enjoy some decent possession in the early stages and make a bit of noise in attack as a result. An offside sees a chance for Costa Rica fade, while a penalty shout as David Silva goes down in the area is waved away as Spain's attack comes to an end.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Costa Rica in white as they get the match underway, attacking left to right, with Spain in red shirts and blue shorts.
Hello and welcome to live coverage from the Estadio La Rosaleda in Malaga as Spain host Costa Rica in a battle of World Cup-bound nations!
Spain are in outstanding form, heading to the World Cup on the back of a flawless showing in Group G, topping the table with nine wins and a draw in 10 matches, including eight successive victories to close out the campaign.
Following a miserable showing in Brazil 2014, Spain are back with a vengeance, once again considered one of the favourites to take home the World Cup trophy in Russia next summer – and they will look to keep the momentum going tonight.
Costa Rica qualified with room to spare in The Hex, finishing second in CONCACAF’s final stage, behind Mexico, as they will be participating in the World Cup for the fourth time in the last five editions next summer in Russia.
La Tricolor are coming off their best showing at a World Cup in Brazil 2014, reaching the quarter-final stage where they were eliminated by the Netherlands on penalties – and with one of their strongest squads in years, they will be aiming to build off that showing in 2018.
Julen Lopetegui hands out an international debut to Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, while Real Sociedad full-back Alvaro Odriozola earns his second cap. Alvaro Morata is selected to lead the line, flanked by David Silva and Isco.
Oscar Ramirez names close to a full-strength side to face Spain tonight, with all but keeper Danny Carvajal and defender Kendall Watson making at least 30 previous appearances for the national side. Marcos Urena leads the line, with Cristian Gamboa, Oscar Duarte, Bryan Oviedo and Celso Borges among the highlights.
Spain lead comfortably at the end of an utterly dominant first 45 minutes between these pair of Russia-bound nations. Jordi Alba opened the scoring just after five minutes, before Alvaro Morata doubled the advantage a while after - and the Chelsea striker could have had a hat-trick if not for the work of Carvajal in the Costa Rica goal.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
Spain put forth a five-star performance at La Rosaleda in Malaga as they hammer Costa Rica with an utterly dominant showing. Jordi Alba got the party started with the opener inside of six minutes, before Alvaro Morata, David Silva - twice - and Andres Iniesta joined in on the act.
