United pile plenty of bodies forward as they keep coming back at the home side. They do well to win themselves a corner over on the right wing that causes all sorts of problems for Basel, but the hosts are just about able to deal with the danger thanks to great defending from all involved.
90' +1
Ibrahimovic goes close! United quickly push forward from the restart as they desperately try to carve out a chance on goal and find a way back into the game. A lovely cross is fired in by Darmian and finds Ibrahimovic, who rises high but can't hit the target with his header.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
89'
M. Lang has scored a goal for Basel! Assist by R. Petretta.
That was a really good piece of play from Petretta, who struggled to get into the game in the first half but has been excellent since the break. He perfectly picked out Lang in front of goal, but Blind really should have done better to deal with the Switzerland international.
GOAL! Basel have taken a late lead! Petretta breaks down the left wing on another great run and manages to penetrate the penalty area. He then fizzes a dangerous pass across the face of goal and over to the far post, where Lang easily gets the better of Blind and pokes the ball into an empty net. It's certainly been coming!
88'
Route one football from United results in a half-decent chance on goal for the visitors. Lukaku and Ibrahimovic both control the ball well with their heads before the Swedish striker unleashes a thumping shot from 25 yards out, and it ends up swerving several yards wide of the near post.
86'
Elyounoussi sprints down the right wing as he tries to carve out another chance on goal for the home side, who continue to play on the front foot as they desperately search for a way in front. The Norwegian seems to get caught in the face by a flailing arm from Matic and crashes to the ground, but the referee doesn't award him a free-kick and allows play to go on.
84'
The free-kick initially fails to result in a chance on goal for the home side, but they come back once again and win themselves another set-piece in a promising position. This time it's Zuffi who launches it into the penalty area, but Fellaini is there to clear the danger in the middle of the box.
83'
M. Darmian gets yellow.
Another good run down the left wing, this time from Petretta, causes problems for the United back line, who are caught slightly out of position. Darmian ends up cynically catching the Italian as he denies him a way towards the box, resulting in a free-kick for Basel out wide.
82'
United lose possession over on the left flank and allow Basel to counter-attack quickly. Elyounoussi initially does well to get into a promising position before trying to tee up Oberlin, but the young striker is beaten to the ball before he can latch onto it.
80'
A. Fransson enters the game and replaces S. Dié.
Serey Die receives a rousing round of applause from the home fans as he gingerly makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by Alexander Fransson.

Description
79'
This doesn't look good for Serey Die, who seemed to pull something behind his knee when trying to beat Romero from distance a few moments ago. He was initially able to continue but now looks as if he's going to have to make way after struggling to make a recovery.
77'
Rocket of a strike by Serey Die! The Ivorian has really impressed this evening, and he's now gone close to giving his side the lead. He picks up the ball in a pocket of space 25 yards away from goal and quickly shoots, but his thumping effort is well saved by Romero at the near post.
76'
Ibrahimovic and Lukaku link kup really nicely on the edge of the hosts' penalty area as they try to carve out a chance on goal. They play a series of quick passes between one another before Lukaku tries to chip a deft one through to the Swede, but he can't quite reach his strike partner and Basel are able to hold on.
74'
Z. Ibrahimović enters the game and replaces A. Martial.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has come on to replace Martial in United's third and final change of the night. Can the Swedish striker help his side pick up the goal they so desperately desire?
73'
And now Rashford goes close! The substitute gets involved in the game for the first time after receiving the ball on the left-hand side of the Basel box. He quickly cuts onto his right foot and shoots, and his low strike flies just wide of the near post and into the side-netting.
72'
What a block by Rojo! Petretta breaks away quickly over on the left wing as Basel push forward on yet another great attacking move. He plays a lovely pass into the penalty area that perfectly picks out Oberlin, who quickly shoots but can't get the better of Rojo.
70'
Big call by the referee! Steffen, who has been one of Basel's standout performers since the break, twists and turns as he dances his way into the visitors' box. He takes on Rojo and goes down under a tackle from the Argentine, resulting in all of the home fans and players screaming for a penalty. The referee isn't at all interested, however, and tells the forward to get back to his feet.
69'
Martial does really well to wriggle away from two Basel players as he cuts inside from the left wing. He darts towards the edge of the hosts' penalty area and then tries to tee up Blind, but the two aren't on the same wavelength and the ball ends up rolling harmlessly out of play for a goal-kick.
67'
Lang hits the crossbar! A poor attempted clearance from Darmian can only find a blue and red shirt, allowing Basel to push forward once again. A deflected cross loops over to the far post and picks out Lang, who beats Romero with his first-time header but sends it crashing off the crossbar. The ball then bounces down to Elyounoussi and sets up the Norwegian to shoot, but Romero manages to get back in position to deny him the opening goal of the game.
66'
N. Matić enters the game and replaces P. Pogba.
United have made another alteration, and it's a more defence-minded one, with Pogba making way for Nemanja Matic.
65'
Space opens up for Pogba, allowing the Frenchman to dart forward on one of his best - and only - runs since the break. He sprints towards the box and manages to get a shot away from 25 yards out, but it's slightly underhit and fails to cause too many problems for Vaclik.
64'
M. Rashford enters the game and replaces J. Lingard.
United have made their first change of the evening as they try to get back into the game, with Marcus Rashford coming on to replace Lingard.
63'
Steffen goes close once again! A wonderful run from the forward sees him dart down the right flank and past Blind inside the penalty area. He then curls a brilliant shot towards the far post, where it swerves just wide of the goal after looking as if it was going to put Basel in front.
62'
Fellaini ends up catching Zuffi from behind with a reckless challenge, and once again Basel are presented with a good opportunity to launch the ball into the box. The set-piece initially fails to result in a chance on goal before bouncing out to Steffen, who unleashes a thumping shot that's well saved by Romero at the near post.
61'
Zuffi's cross in from the corner is a decent one and causes a few problems for the United defence, but Romero is there to rush out and punch the ball away from danger before it can find a blue and red shirt in front of goal.
60'
Steffen twists and turns over on the right wing as he charges towards the byline, but he's clumsily challenged and ends up winning the hosts a free-kick. Zuffi's cross-cum-shot is blasted towards the near post, but Blind is there to easily nod the ball behind for a corner.
58'
Basel try to push forward once again after United lose possession on the halfway line, but a lofted cross-field pass fails to pick out Lang deep down the right wing and instead sails out of play for a throw-in.
56'
It's been a disappointing start to the second half for United, who are losing possession far too easily inside the Basel half of the pitch. Steffen charges forward after good play by Serey Die and manages to get a shot away from 20 yards out, but, like Elyounoussi's effort a couple of moments ago, it's easily stopped by Romero in the middle of the goal.
54'
United lose out far up the pitch once again, resulting in another quick counter-attack for Basel. This time it takes place out wide through Elyounoussi, who charges down the left flank and cuts inside before unleashing a low shot that's comfortably held by Romero.
52'
An attempted United attacking move fails to come to anything, allowing Basel to push forward once again. Serey Die initially does well in the middle of the pitch before Lang and Steffen link up deep down the right flank, but the latter can't pick out a team-mate with his slightly misplaced cross and the hosts can't carve out a chance on goal.
50'
Serey Die goes close! Darmian is penalised for an accidental handball just outside of the United penalty area over on the left wing, resulting in a free-kick for the home side in a promising position. It's whipped into the box and cleared only as far as Serey Die, who unleashes a rocket of a shot that flies just wide of the near post.
48'
And now Lukaku goes close! At the other end of the pitch, it's Pogba who sends a wonderful cross into the Basel box and onto the head of Lukaku, who meets it well but can't hit the target with his looping effort on goal.
47'
Almost an early opportunity for Basel! A bright start from the home side sees them put some pressure on the United back line. Steffen curls a lovely cross into the penalty area that narrowly misses the head of Lang as it sails towards Elyounoussi, who sticks out a leg but can't quite make contact with the ball at the far post.
46'
We're underway once again!
45'
What a strike by Rojo! The resulting corner is dealt with by the Basel defence, but they can only clear the ball as far as Rojo. The centre-back immediately unleashes a thumping shot from 30 yards out, and it's one that smashes the crossbar after being deflected past the reach of Vaclik. What a goal that would have been!
44'
And now Martial goes close! Space opens up for the Frenchman, allowing him to dart forward on a great run. He easily manages to penetrate the penalty area and takes on Vaclik, who just about manages to parry the strike behind for a corner at the near post.
42'
Fellaini hits the post! Martial quickly cuts inside from the left wing after getting the better of Steffen and sends a brilliant cross into the middle of the box. It perfectly picks out Fellaini, whose glancing header looks set to result in the opening goal of the game but instead clips the outside of the post.
41'
Now it's Basel's turn to have a free-kick in a dangerous position after a marauding run from Steffen is brought to an end by a cynical Pogba challenge. Oberlin steps up and shoots, but his effort is a poorly hit one and sails high over the top of the crossbar.
39'
Elyounoussi sticks out a foot and catches Lingard, sending the forward to the ground and resulting in another free-kick for United in a decent area of the pitch. Blind's curling cross looks set to find a team-mate, but Akanji comfortably clears the danger with a strong header.
37'
It's been a tough evening for Oberlin, who has barely had a sniff of the ball so far. A United attacking move breaks down and it looks as if the young striker is going to be set up for one of the first times tonight, but a lofted pass flies over his head and straight to Romero instead.
35'
Darmian is set up in a great position deep down the right wing, but his deep cross is a poor one and fails to find a team-mate in front of goal. It does manage to reach Blind over on the other flank, however, but the Dutchman's first-time cross is equally poor and sails behind for a goal-kick.
33'
It's all United at the moment as they keep piling plenty of bodies forward. This time it's Darmian who looks as if he's been bundled over by a late challenge in a promising position, but the referee waves away his protests and tells him to get back to his feet, forcing the visitors to start again from the halfway line.
31'
Serey Die catches Pogba with a late challenge just outside of the Basel penalty area, leaving the referee with no choice but to award United a free-kick in a very dangerous position. Pogba steps up and shoots, but he can't quite find the top right-hand corner of the net and curls his strike comfortably wide of the goal.
29'
The cross in from the set-piece is a good one, and it forces Vaclik into palming the ball behind for another corner. This time Blind's cross is an out-swinger that almost finds Chris Smalling, but Die sticks out a leg and does well to knock it away from the centre-back.
28'
Pogba is left in a pocket of space in the middle of the pitch, allowing him to quickly pick out Lingard on the edge of the box. The latter initially isn't able to fully control the ball but does well to get a shot away, and it's one that Petretta is forced into deflecting behind for a corner.
26'
Marcos Rojo is caught in possession by Oberlin and Basel are able to counter-attack quickly. Lang's cross into the penalty area from deep down the right wing is a good one and looks set to find Oberlin, but Rojo is just about able to get back and get a foot on the ball at the near post.
24'
United patiently knock the ball around inside the Basel half of the pitch before Pogba tries to chip pass down the right flank and into the path of Darmian. He's unable to find the Italian, however, as his pass is blocked and deflects out for a throw-in.
22'
More good play by Basel ends with Lang making another dangerous run into the right-hand side of the United penalty area. He takes on Herrera and thinks he's won himself a corner, but the referee instead awards a free-kick to the visitors for a push on the Spaniard.
20'
A clever pass from Serey Die picks out Lang deep down the right flank, setting up the wing-back to win the home side a corner. It's whipped in by Zuffi and heads towards Elyounoussi, who tries to get the better of Fellaini but is easily beaten in the air by the big Belgian.
18'
Lingard is caught in possession by Serey Die in the middle of the pitch, allowing Basel to counter-attack quickly. Luca Zuffi immediately fires a lofted pass up towards Dimitri Oberlin, but he can't quite pick out the striker and the ball bounces into the hands of Sergio Romero.
16'
Fellaini goes close again! Matteo Darmian is caught late by Raoul Petretta, resulting in a free-kick for United in a promising position. Daley Blind steps up and curls a cross right onto the head of Fellaini, who meets it well but sends his headed effort just wide of the near post.
14'
United continue piling bodies forward as they try to carve out another chance on goal. Martial gets himself into a good position deep down the left wing but can't get the better of Marek Suchy, who does well to win the home side a goal-kick.
12'
Off the line by Manuel Akanji! United keep pushing forward after quickly regaining possession. A great cross is then fired into the Basel box and picks out Marouane Fellaini, who rises high and beats Vaclik only to see his headed effort blasted away by Akanji at the last possible moment.
11'
What a chance for Lukaku to open the scoring! A fantastic pass from Paul Pogba flies through the middle of the Basel back line and perfectly picks out Lukaku. The Belgian shrugs off Eder Balanta and only has Tomas Vaclik, but his strike is well smothered by the goalkeeper.
9'
It's been a good start to the evening for Basel, who are pressing United well in the middle of the pitch. It looks as if they're going to try and find space out wide, where both Elyounoussi and Renato Steffen are trying to cause problems.
7'
Wonderful run by Elyounoussi! The Norwegian embarks on a marauding run down the right wing as he tries to penetrate the United penalty area. He's eventually able to do so after skipping away from two attempted tackles, but he holds onto the ball for slightly too long and ends up knocking it behind for a goal-kick.
5'
Jesse Lingard is bundled over by Serey Die in the middle of the pitch, resulting in a free-kick for United. It's sent short and eventually worked over to Romelu Lukaku, who quickly nods the ball down to Lingard. He looks set to tee up Anthony Martial inside the penalty area, but his first-time pass is well blocked.
3'
Good play by Basel deep inside the United half of the pitch sees them carve out the opening chance on goal. Michael Lang picks up the ball out wide and quickly sends a cross into the box and towards Mohamed Elyounoussi, who looks set to reach the ball but loses out to Ander Herrera at the vital moment.

We're off! Basel get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Champions League group stage game between Basel and Manchester United at St. Jakob Park.
United’s relatively comfortable win at home to Benfica in their last European outing means they head into this evening’s clash knowing a draw will send them into the last-16 of the competition. They’ve won each of their four games so far, and with a three-point gap currently separating them and CSKA Moscow - who were victorious against Benfica earlier today - they should be able to finish top of the group.
They’ll certainly be feeling confident about their chances of getting the better of Basel once again. The last meeting between the two sides ended in an easy 3-0 victory for the Red Devils, and since then they’ve managed to bag themselves seven goals in the Champions League while shipping just one in reply. They’re also able to head into the game on the back of an impressive 4-1 thumping of Newcastle United.
As for Basel, they find themselves in a two-team battle for second place, with top spot realistically now out of reach. CSKA’s victory against bottom side Benfica means the Russian club now enjoy a three-point gap over the reigning Swiss Super League champions, leaving Benfica needing to pull off a positive result to give themselves the best chance of making the knockout stage for the first time since 2015.
Basel struggled in their last meeting with United but prepared for tonight’s clash in fine fashion with a 5-1 thrashing of Sion on this very ground. The Swiss side have lost just one of their last 11 games across all competitions but found themselves on a three-game winless run heading into last weekend after being beaten by CSKA and suffering disappointing draws against both Zurich and Young Boys.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this this evening…
Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): Romero; Darmian, Smalling, Rojo, Blind; Herrera, Fellaini; Lingard, Pogba, Martial; Lukaku.
Raphael Wicky has decided to make just one change to the Basel side that were beaten by CSKA three weeks ago, with Serey Die coming into the starting line-up to replace Taulant Xhaka.
Meanwhile, United boss Jose Mourinho has made four alterations to the team that featured in their last European outing, with the most notable inclusion being Marcos Rojo, who is set to start his first game this season. He replaces Eric Bailly, while Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata have also made way for Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba, respectively.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Manchester United substitutes: Pereira, Shaw, Lindelof, McTominay, Matic, Rashford, Ibrahimovic.
HALF-TIME: BASEL 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
United have been comfortably on top so far, but they somehow have to head into the half-time break with the game still goalless. Basel started brightly but have struggled since then, with the visitors easily managing to dominate possession. Lukaku, Fellaini, Martial and Rojo have all gone close to opening the scoring, but the home side have just about managed to hold on. Whether they'll be able to keep United at bay for 45 more minutes remains to be seen...
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: BASEL 1-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
United went into tonight's clash believing they were going to be able to come away with the result needed to send them into the last-16, but they were beaten at the last minute by a determined Basel side that refused to give up. The home side struggled in the first half but were excellent after the break, and they were finally able to find a well-deserved goal with just a few minutes left to play.
The defeat is a desperately disappointing one for United, but they still remain in pole position heading into their final group stage game. A point is all they need to send them through to the knockout stage as group winners, but they'll have to battle against a CSKA side that impressed in their earlier victory against Benfica.
