D. Sturridge enters the game and replaces Roberto Firmino.
Sturridge is given mere seconds on the pitch following Mane's goal.
90' +3
S. Mané has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Mohamed Salah.
Clever from Salah to release Mane into space early, allowing his fellow forward to do the rest.
That will do it for Liverpool. After seeing off both a free-kick and the ensuing corner, they break at speed through Salah and Mane. The latter races through on goal, holds off Van Aanholt and rounds Hennessey to sew up all three points.
90' +2
Chance here for Palace to swing in a free-kick after Lallana fouls Ward.
90'
We're just about to tick into stoppage time and Selhurst Park is somewhat subdued with the away side calmly keeping the contest under control.
87'
A. Lallana enters the game and replaces N. Keïta.
Lallana, sporting a vintage David Beckham mohawk, is called on to give Keita a breather. Another good shift from Liverpool's new midfielder.
85'
Hennessey is having a good night. On this occasion the goalkeeper reaches high to tip over a Salah header, and he collects the subsequent corner.
83'
M. Meyer enters the game and replaces J. Schlupp.
It's a debut for Meyer! The midfielder replaces Schlupp and will look to get Palace moving forward in these closing few minutes.
81'
Mane is next with an attempt to stretch Liverpool's advantage, although it's tame and ultimately poses few problems for Hennessey.
79'
J. Ward enters the game and replaces A. Townsend.
Hodgson plugs the right-back hole left by Wan-Bissaka's dismissal as Ward comes on in place of Townsend.
Minute
Description
78'
Hennessey does well to keep out Keita's swerving long-range effort. Can Palace retrieve this lone-goal deficit with 10 men?
75'
A. Wan-Bissaka goes off after a red card!
Wan-Bissaka is off! It's a disappointing end to an encouraging performance for the 20-year-old. He left the referee with no choice, stretching to cut down Salah with the Egypt international clean through for a one-on-one.
73'
CHANCE! And it's the best Zaha has had. He steps onto his right and shoots through legs, but Alisson is positioned well and holds.
71'
Alexander-Arnold again fails to make the most of possession in a good area. He hasn't been shy in getting forward. With some more polish, the Reds might be further ahead.
70'
A. Sørloth enters the game and replaces C. Benteke.
No surprises that Benteke is first to be withdrawn by Hodgson, who turns to a similar type of centre-forward in Sorloth.
69'
Palace deal with a Salah corner and briefly look as though they might threaten on the counter, but the opening evaporates. Some attacking inspiration is needed.
67'
J. Henderson enters the game and replaces J. Milner.
Klopp makes the first move, injecting fresh legs into midfield as Henderson takes the armband from goal-scorer Milner.
65'
Hodgson's side have just lost some of the impetus that was a feature at the start of this half. The veteran manager might start looking toward his bench, where new boys Meyer and Ayew loom as options.
62'
Milivojevic wins a foul to see off a nervous few moments for the Palace defence, which made two important blocks from Salah and Alexander-Arnold.
59'
Liverpool are just settling things down with a sustained period of possession taking the sting out of Palace's impressive start to this second half.
56'
Alisson is again on hand to save his side, getting down low to parry Benteke's towering header from a corner. Palace are beginning to build some momentum.
54'
Flying save from Alisson! The Brazil goalkeeper hurls himself to his left to turn a fine Milivojevic free-kick around the near post.
52'
T. Alexander-Arnold gets yellow.
More impressive work from Wan-Bissaka. He chases back to slide the ball off Keita's toe as the busy midfielder advanced into the area.
Zaha is just too tricky for several defenders and is eventually bumped off the ball by Alexander-Arnold, who goes into the book.
50'
WIDE! Two good opportunities for Liverpool ends with Keita turning past the left post. Hennessey had earlier done just enough to usher Salah away from goal following Robertson's threatening early ball in behind.
48'
Milivojevic threads Wan-Bissaka into space on the right, only for the move to break down due to a misplaced pass. The right-back has been a positive attacking outlet for Palace.
46'
Back underway at Selhurst Park with Milner's penalty the difference between Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 0-1 LIVERPOOL
45'
Penalty goal scored by J. Milner for Liverpool!
PENALTY! Salah turns Sakho and is tripped by the former Liverpool defender.
Liverpool's stand-in skipper makes no mistake as Milner strokes the spot-kick into the bottom right corner, sending Hennessey the wrong way. Klopp's men lead 1-0 on the edge of half-time.
42'
P. van Aanholt gets yellow.
The Selhurst Park faithful are unhappy as play is called back for a foul against Van Aanholt, just as it looked as though the hosts might break through on goal.
Netherlands international Van Aanholt is the first man into the book for following through in a tackle on Milner.
40'
Appeals for a Palace free-kick on the left flank go unrewarded and Liverpool sweep forward through Mane, who shoots wide when he had options in the middle.
38'
We haven't seen much of Mane or Firmino as the 40-minute mark approaches. So much of Liverpool's raids are going through the combination of Alexander-Arnold and Salah on the right.
35'
Wasted by Robertson. Salah hooks the ball back from the byline and it comes to the left-back just inside the area, but it won't quite drop and he slices over.
32'
Crucial covering challenge from Gomez nicks the ball away from Zaha before he reaches a through ball. Gomez had to time it to perfection, and he did.
30'
Good amount of zip to this game despite it being goalless after half an hour. Schlupp is next to try his luck with a low drive that skims safely wide of Alisson's goal.
28'
Sharp near-post save from Hennessey denies Keita, who had time to pick his spot after a Salah shot ricocheted to the midfielder.
25'
CROSSBAR! So unlucky for Townsend. The winger cuts onto his favoured left and crashes a dipping, curling effort against the woodwork from way out. Alisson was beaten.
23'
MISSED! An absolutely delightful bit of play from Keita to break free in his own half and loft a cheeky ball over the top for Salah, who balloons his attempted lob well over the bar. That was out of character.
21'
Liverpool have the ball in the net as Mane, attempting to meet Alexander-Arnold's cross, clatters into Hennessey. The goalkeeper rightly wins a free-kick.
19'
Wasteful from Salah! The star forward is caught in two minds on the edge of the area after Sakho's pass deflected off Keita and kindly into his path.
18'
Thrilling from Mane as he bursts around Wan-Bissaka to reach the byline, but the young full-back makes up the lost ground and does excellently to divert the cross out for a goal kick.
16'
The hosts are snapping into a compact defensive shape well within their own half, content to cede the ball to Van Dijk and Gomez in particular.
14'
Smart from Hennessey. He's quick off his line and stretches to push away a Robertson cross after Palace's defence dealt with Alexander-Arnold's initial delivery.
12'
An overlapping Robertson has his tame low cross comfortably held by Hennessey, who has the first involvement of either goalkeeper.
8'
Alexander-Arnold steams forward and looks to whip in a cross for the second time in the early exchanges. Again it comes to nothing and Liverpool recycle the ball. They're commanding possession at this stage.
6'
Schlupp has taken up a position ahead of Van Aanholt on Palace's left side. That pair will be essential to curbing the influence of Salah, through which Liverpool's attack is already being funnelled.
4'
Salah is sent scurrying into space left behind by Van Aanholt. Sakho reads the danger well though and gets across to block the shot.
2'
An interception high up the pitch from Alexander-Arnold but his cross is intercepted. Liverpool eventually win it back and settle in possession.
1'
We're underway! The visitors get the game going through James Milner.
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of this Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
Two of last weekend's most impressive performers convene at Selhurst Park for their first Monday meeting since the Eagles famously rallied back to draw 3-3 and all but end Liverpool's title ambitions back in May 2014.
The Reds were sharp in crushing West Ham 4-0 with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge all on the scoresheet. However, they've since seen Manchester City put six past Huddersfield Town, and won't want to lose ground at this early stage of the season.
Palace, meanwhile, appeared every inch a well-organised Roy Hodgson outfit in their efficient 2-0 win away at newly promoted Fulham, where Schlupp and Zaha were on target. This is a far sterner test, although they've consistently proven a nuisance for the top sides in recent seasons.
Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Wayne Hennessey; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, James Tomkins, Mamadou Sakho, Patrick van Aanholt; Jeffrey Schlupp, Luka Milivojevic, James McArthur, Andros Townsend; Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke.
Crystal Palace substitutes: Vicente Guaita, Joel Ward, Martin Kelly, Cheikhou Kouyate, Max Meyer, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Sorloth.
Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita; Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool substitutes: Simon Mignolet, Alberto Moreno, Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Xherdan Shaqiri, Daniel Sturridge.
No change for Jurgen Klopp as he sticks with the formula that brought success against the Hammers. Loris Karius is a notable omission from the bench ahead of an expected loan move to Besiktas with Simon Mignolet his replacement. Alberto Moreno and Joel Matip come in for Nathaniel Clyne and Fabinho.
Former England boss Hodgson also keeps the faith with his Palace side. Max Meyer, who joined on a free from Schalke over the off-season, is a welcome inclusion among the substitutes. Jordan Ayew could also debut off the bench after arriving on loan from Swansea City.
The players are taking their positions and we're not far from kick-off in south London!
The home fans are voicing their disapproval of Michael Oliver's decision, but it certainly appeared as though Sakho clipped Salah's ankle as the winger rolled his marker. It could be a costly late lapse for Palace, who grew into the match as the half wore on.
Though only the bar prevented Townsend putting Palace ahead, Klopp can afford to be reasonably pleased with what he's seen in the first 45 minutes. Salah, Robertson and Keita all had opportunities prior to Milner's penalty.
The Reds, meantime, roll on. Salah was not at his clinical best, Firmino found himself on the fringes and yet they were still good enough to secure a comfortable away win. The title hopefuls will now look to make it three in a row at home to Brighton and Hove Albion next Saturday, while Palace visit an in-form Watford the following day.
That concludes our live commentary of another engaging Premier League contest. We hope you join us again soon! Bye for now.
It's a deserved victory in the end for Liverpool, even if they had to wait until stoppage time to see off a hard-working Crystal Palace once and for all. That the goals - from Milner and Mane - came right at the end of either half will be of some annoyance to Hodgson. His team, however, lacked the class in attack to genuinely threaten a defence led ably by Van Dijk, and the 75th-minute sending off Wan-Bissaka put paid to their hopes of a second successive victory.
