Three minutes have been added on at the end of the match. The contest has been as good as over from the moment substitute Bale sent the ball flying past Oblak 74 minutes in to give Real a two-goal advantage.
89'
M. Díaz enters the game and replaces K. Benzema.
Benzema has been Real's best player over the 90 minutes, even if he has been unable to get on the scoresheet. The striker is replaced by Mariano in the sixth and final substitution of the day.
88'
OVER THE BAR! Great play from Real as Vazquez sends Benzema free down the right. The striker spots Bale in the middle and picks him out with a delightful cross, but the header has too much on it and ends over the crossbar. Not the easiest of chances for Bale, in truth.
86'
Real have had 70 per cent of the ball in the second half. They have managed just the one shot on target since the restart, but it proved decisive as Bale fired the ball across Oblak and into the far corner to give his side some breathing space.
84'
Dani Ceballos enters the game and replaces T. Kroos.
Kroos, who has helped control the flow of the game from midfield, is replaced by Ceballos for the closing stages. The Germany midfielder never quite recovered from Thomas' mistimed challenge.
82'
Two goals ahead and now a man better off than their opponents - it was not supposed to be this easy for Real. The reigning European champions continue to rack up the passes, knowing that the onus is on their opponents to find a goal.
80'
T. Partey gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
This is a nasty challenge from Thomas, catching the ankle of Kroos to earn a second yellow card. A bad day for Atletico has just got a lot worse.
78'
Simeone's side have offered little since falling a third goal behind. This could well be a pivotal day in LaLiga as Real are now in charge of their own destiny in terms of second place, and Solari will not rule out chasing down Barcelona over the remaining three months of the season.
76'
Real now have 15 minutes to see through and they will be behind only Barcelona in LaLiga - what a turnaround it has been under Solari. The hosts are full of confidence and are knocking the ball around inside the Atletico half of the field.
Minute
Description
74'
G. Bale has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by L. Modrić.
Reguilon fed the ball to Benzema just inside Atletico's half and the striker gave it to Modric. The Croatia midfielder saw a gap in the Atletico defence and made the most of it by playing an inch-perfect pass into the path of Bale.
GOOOAAALLL!!! ATLETICO 1-3 REAL! The three points are heading across the city to the Bernabeu! Bale sweeps the ball across Oblak after taking a touch to set himself once played through by Modric. Atletico were carved apart, which we have not said too often this season.
72'
Saúl gets yellow.
Yet another booking, this time for Saul following a challenge on Reguilon. The Madrid full-back seems to have done something to upset the Atletico players!
71'
N. Kalinić enters the game and replaces Álvaro Morata.
Kalinic is brought on for Morata, who has been heavily involved in the second half. The striker is unfortunate that his well-taken goal was ruled out for offside a little earlier.
70'
There is no doubt that Atletico are the side looking the more likely to score as we enter the final quarter of the match. The home fans are urging their side on, sensing that a goal could be coming. It looks as though Kalinic is about the enter the field.
68'
Álvaro Morata gets yellow.
Having had a goal ruled out for offside and seen a big penalty shout rejected in the second half, a frustrated Morata shoves Ramos off the ball and is shown a yellow card.
66'
L. Modrić gets yellow.
Bookings left, right and centre now as Modric is penalised for a foul in midfield.
65'
Rodri enters the game and replaces Á. Correa.
Correa played a big part in Atletico's first-half equaliser but he is the man to make way for Rodrigo. Simeone now has just one substitution available to use.
64'
Sergio Reguilón gets yellow.
Reguilon, who has been in the wars today, rakes his foot down Griezmann's shin and becomes the latest player to be shown a yellow card.
62'
T. Partey gets yellow.
Thomas hacks down Reguilon right under the referee's nose and is rightly cautioned.
61'
GOOD SAVE FROM COURTOIS! The ball is flicked towards the back post and it looked as though Gimenez would hook it back into the mix. Instead, the Uruguay defender tries to catch out Courtois at his near post and the Real keeper makes a smart stop, earning praise from his team-mates.
59'
Vitolo enters the game and replaces T. Lemar.
Lemar, who has not been involved today, is replaced by Vitolo. The tempo of the match has dropped over the last few minutes.
58'
L. Hernández gets yellow.
A poor challenge from Lucas on Carvajal leads to the third caution of the contest. The referee had no other choice.
57'
G. Bale enters the game and replaces Vinícius Júnior.
Perhaps with the Ajax tie in mind, Solari takes off star performer Vinicius. Bale, who has struggled for form this season, is brought on for the final half an hour or so.
56'
The goal may have been ruled out but Atletico look rejuvenated all of a sudden. Real's lead is looking very slender as Solari readies Bale to come on.
52'
CLOSE! Morata keeps hold of the ball on the edge of the box and tees up Griezmann. The France striker's first-time shot has Courtois worried but it drifts wide of the post at the last moment.
51'
The corner is worked to Vazquez, who cannot keep his shot down. The visiting side have started the second half on top as they look for what would likely be a killer third goal.
50'
Vinicius is not giving the Atletico backline a moment's peace. Arias does well to block the Madrid teenager's path to goal, albeit at the expense of a corner.
49'
POOR FROM MORATA! The pass to Morata is perfectly weighted but the January signing hammers the ball wide of the target with the angle a little against him.
48'
Morata catches Carvajal after the ball was played and earns himself a telling-off from the referee. The Spain striker has barely had a touch of the ball today and his frustration is clear to see.
46'
Atletico, heading for a first home defeat of the season, get us back underway at Wanda Metropolitano!
45' +2
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 1-2 REAL MADRID
45'
The debate over whether the penalty should have been given will no doubt continue into half-time. The initial contact was made outside the box but Vinicius stayed on his feet before he could no longer do so. Real are the side in control of possession as we enter two minutes of added time.
43'
Advantage Real as we enter the final throes of the first half, then, and it is all thanks to the work of Vinicius. The youngster won the penalty with his direct run into the box, forcing Gimenez into making the mistimed challenge.
42'
Penalty goal scored by Sergio Ramos for Real Madrid!
GOOOAAALLL!!! ATLETICO 1-2 REAL! Nerves of steel from Ramos as he sends the ball into the corner of the net, giving Oblak no chance of keeping it out despite guessing the right way.
41'
J. Giménez gets yellow.
Gimenez is cautioned for bringing down Vinicius. There is no doubt that the defender caught his opponent - there was even a shirt pull in there - but he and his team-mates argue that it should have been a free-kick.
39'
Real have had 60 per cent of the ball but the sides are level at five apiece in terms of shots. There has not been a great deal between the bitter rivals as we fast approach half-time in the Spanish capital.
35'
SAVE FROM OBLAK! When others may have taken a touch, Kroos opts to take on the shot first time from the edge of the box. The effort from 22 yards is on target, too, but Oblak is equal to it down to his left.
33'
The game has finally started to settle down over the last couple of minutes. Atletico have been the better side overall and deserve to be on level terms, but Real themselves look dangerous when they get Vinicius on the ball down the left flank.
31'
CHANCE FOR GRIEZMANN! This is turning into the end-to-end contest that we were all hoping for. Atletico win themselves a corner which drops for Griezmann at the back post, but he hits the ball with his knee and it spins over the crossbar.
29'
Vinicius is proving to be Real's best player again today. The youngster has got the better of Godin a couple of times, but on this occasion the experienced defender uses all his experience to shove his opponent off the ball in the box without giving away a penalty.
27'
SHOT! All the momentum is with Atletico now thanks to that equaliser from Griezmann. Correa shoots from the edge of the box but it is an awkward one and the half-volley flies over the crossbar, Courtois watching it all the way.
25'
A. Griezmann has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Á. Correa.
GOOOAAAALLL!!! ATLETICO 1-1 REAL! Griezmann levels up the contest with a fine finish under the body of Courtois. Correa sends the France striker clean through on goal, with Ramos keeping him onside, but the referee has to refer to VAR as Correa barged Vinicus off the ball. A quick check confirms that there was too little in the shoulder barge to disallow the goal.
Correa not only won the ball back for his side with a challenge on Vinicius out wide - adjudged to be legal by the officials - but he also spotted the run of Griezmann in behind. A fine assist and an even better finish from Griezmann.
24'
A. Griezmann gets yellow.
This match has become incredibly stop-start due to a succession of niggling fouls. Griezmann is the latest to be penalised for his challenge on Casemiro after losing the ball.
22'
Lucas Vázquez gets yellow.
Vazquez is shown the first yellow card of this feisty Madrid derby for his follow-through challenge. That came on the back of a promising Madrid attack, with Vinicius holding off Godin but failing to pick out a team-mate with the cutback.
20'
ALMOST A SECOND! Vinicius is really starting to life up to the hype at Real Madrid. The talented youngster sends in a cross with the outside of his boot that is met by Vazquez, but the forward blasts the volley high over the crossbar.
18'
That Casemiro goal has not really dampened the home supporters' spirits - they are still making plenty of noise. Real had not really offered a great deal prior to their opener but they are now the side in control.
16'
Casemiro has scored a goal for Real Madrid!
GOOOOAAALLL!!! ATLETICO 0-1 REAL! Ramos flicks on the corner and Casemiro is left in plenty of space to execute an overhead kick, giving Real a precious lead with 16 minutes on the clock. Oblak tries to narrow the angle but Casemiro sends the ball flying past the Atletico goalkeeper from the edge of the six-yard box with his acrobatic attempt.
15'
Madrid take a short corner and work it well, but the referee tells them to retake it to the visitors' dismay. Real are just starting to build some momentum for the first time today.
13'
Toy rats are being thrown at former Atletico goalkeeper Courtois by the home supporters. The Madrid stopper, preferred to Navas in the league once again today, is also being jeered whenever he gets on the ball.
11'
Carvajal sprays a delightful pass towards the back post and Modric nods it back across goal, but it goes straight behind without another touch. That is Real's liveliest moment yet.
10'
FIRST SHOT! After 10 minutes of toiling, Atletico finally create an opportunity. Thomas tiptoes his way past a few bodies but skews the ball wide of the target when it opened up for him.
8'
The home side play some nice one-touch football but the offside flag goes up once Morata touches the ball.
7'
Atletico are pressing their opponents high up the pitch and that is making it very hard for Real to pass their way out. The visitors have not got going at all so far and that is down to the work ethic of Simeone's men.
5'
The referee is clearly going to have his work cut out today. Arias catches Reguilon on the shin to concede a free-kick, but there are suggestions the Real player also left his foot in.
3'
Griezmann is unhappy as his shot takes a slight touch off Kroos on its way behind, but the officials did not spot it. Great play from Griezmann and compatriot Lemar in the build-up, exchanging passes to carve Real open.

Real get the Madrid derby underway at this impressive stadium!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the LaLiga meeting between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano.
Diego Simeone’s men suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Real Betis last weekend to drop all three points in the league for the first time since September 1. Having missed out on the chance to close the gap on league leaders Barcelona, who are now six points better off at the summit despite drawing with Valencia seven days ago, Atletico are instead looking over their shoulder at Real. This really is a massive game at the top of the division, with more than just bragging rights on the line.
Real have hit a good run of form as we approach the business end of the season, having won five and drawn one of their last six outings in all competitions. Santiago Solari’s side picked up a well-deserved 1-1 draw away at Barcelona in midweek to keep their hopes of silverware in the Copa del Rey alive, but now focus switches back to LaLiga as they have a chance to overtake their city rivals in second place.
ATLETICO MADRID XI (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Santiago Arias, Jose Gimenez, Diego Godin (c), Lucas Hernandez; Angel Correa, Saul Niguez, Thomas Partey, Thomas Lemar; Alvaro Morata, Antoine Griezmann.
Atletico Madrid subs: Vitolo, Rodrigo, Antonio Adan, Juanfran, Victor Mollejo, Filipe Luis, Nikola Kalinic.
REAL MADRID XI (4-3-3): Thibaut Courtois; Dani Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos (c), Sergio Reguilon; Luka Modric, Casemiro, Toni Kroos; Lucas Vazquez, Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior.
Real Madrid subs: Nacho, Keylor Navas, Marcelo, Mariano Diaz, Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos.
The two teams are now out on the field at Wanda Metropolitano and we are moments away from kick-off.
Simeone will be pleased enough with his side's first-half performance as the hosts were arguably the better side with the scoreline at 1-1, albeit without creating many opportunities. Real's star man has undoubtedly been Vinicius, meanwhile, and Solari still has Bale to call upon from the bench should he wish.
Solari's in-form side, who have now won six and drawn one of their last seven matches, return to action on Wednesday with the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Ajax in Amsterdam, before hosting Girona in their next league outing eight days from now. Atletico have a week to recover from this defeat, meanwhile, as they do not play again until next Saturday with a trip to Rayo Vallecano.
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye!
