Referee Anthony Taylor blows his whistle, and Spurs get us underway at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of this Premier League match as Tottenham host West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!
Meanwhile, West Ham were in the running to nick a Europa League spot but for a winless run stretching back to the 16th of March, which has seen the Hammers slip down to 11th and eight points adrift of seventh-placed Wolves. Manuel Pellegrini will want to end their league campaign on a high though, but they couldn’t have asked for a tougher venue to end their streak given their hosts’ excellent form in their new stadium.
And without further ado, let’s take a look at how both sides line up, starting with the hosts.
WEST HAM XI (4-1-4-1): Lukasz Fabianski; Ryan Fredericks, Fabian Balbuena, Issa Diop, Arthur Masuaku; Declan Rice; Michail Antonio, Mark Noble (c), Robert Snodgrass, Felipe Anderson; Marko Arnautovic.
SUBSTITUTES: Paulo Gazzaniga, Kieran Trippier, Oliver Skipp, Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen, Kyle Walker-Peters, Fernando Llorente.
TOTTENHAM XI (3-4-1-2): Hugo Lloris (c); Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies; Juan Foyth, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Danny Rose; Christian Eriksen; Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura.
SUBSTITUTES: Adrian, Jack Wilshere, Javier Hernandez, Pedro Obiang, Lucas Perez, Angelo Ogbonna, Pablo Zabaleta.
Tottenham’s recent run of form, which has yielded three wins in their past four Premier League matches, has seen them firmly establish themselves as favourites to maintain their place in the coveted top four. With one eye on Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first-leg against Ajax, Mauricio Pochettino and his side will be aware that a win later would virtually guarantee their spot in the top four.
The players are out and kick-off is drawing near.
Pellegrini knows that his side will have to do very well to maintain their level of performance, but they have the players to keep Alderweireld and company on their toes, especially considering that this is a must-win fixture for a Spurs side looking to consolidate their place in the top four. However, with Alli in instrumental form and the dangerous Lucas using his pace, it will be quite the shock if Pochettino’s Spurs manage to lose for the first time in their new ground.
Both sides play their penultimate Premier League matches next Saturday, with Spurs travelling to the south coast to face Bournemouth while West Ham prepare for the visit of Southampton who make the trip up to London. However, Pochettino and his side have a European pit-stop to contend with beforehand, as a first-ever Champions League semi-final first-leg against Ajax on Tuesday awaits.
And that wraps up our coverage. We hope you enjoyed our commentary, and until next time, goodbye!
