The barrage of crosses make their mark in the end. This time it was McClean's delivery which unlocked Gibraltar's backline to lay the ball on a plate for Brady.
90' +3
R. Brady has scored a goal for Republic of Ireland! Assist by J. McClean.
Finally! Ireland seal the game, as McClean’s deep cross goes beyond Goldwin and finds Brady who’s all alone to stoop at the back post and nudge a header into the empty net.
90' +1
Brady delivers a looping corner and Keogh meets it at the back post, only to see the ball drift into Goldwin’s arms. There was never really enough pace on the corner to help power a header beyond the keeper.
89'
Ireland are passing the ball casually around the back four now. Both teams look jaded and this one seems to be fizzling out.
87'
Cries from Ireland for a penalty as Keogh is seemingly tripped by Jolley as he was about to latch onto a chipped pass to the back post. There was certainly something in it, but the referee carefully takes his time and points for a goal kick.
86'
McClean drills a venomous ball towards the goalmouth, but Chipolina is there to stab it away for a corner.
82'
McClean – in a rare change of approach for Ireland – drives through the heart of the pitch, before hitting a feeble shot comfortably wide.
80'
Stevens lofts in an early cross which is comfortably cleared. Ireland regroup and switch the ball across to Brady who also sees his cross blocked away for a throw.
78'
Ireland will be frustrated that they haven’t added to their lead in this second half. Despite a lot of territory in Gibraltar’s defensive third, they’ve really struggled to create any clear chances. The fact that McGoldrick’s speculative effort from range is the closest they’ve come in this half speaks volumes.
77'
E. Jolley enters the game and replaces A. Hernandez.
Hernandez can't continue, and is replaced by Jolley for Gibraltar's final substitution.
Minute
Description
74'
Brady’s first action is to clatter into Goldwin from a corner, relieving the pressure slightly with a free kick for Gibraltar.
73'
R. Brady enters the game and replaces C. Robinson.
The excellent Robinson is replaced by Brady. Ireland can sense that Gibraltar’s resistance is wearing down here, and look to increase the pressure with fresh legs on the right wing.
70'
McClean is released in behind by Maguire and dinks an imaginative cross to the back post. Goldwin flaps at it, but everyone else misses the pass too and Gibraltar hurriedly clear.
68'
E. Stevens gets yellow.
Stevens is booked for a cynical foul that stops a rare Gibraltar break - a deserved yellow.
67'
Maguire immediately runs the channel and stands up a cross which is blocked by Sergeant. Ireland howl for a penalty, but it looked like it hit the Gibraltar defender in the chest.
66'
S. Maguire enters the game and replaces S. Hogan.
Hogan's last action is to fizz a close-range strike straight at Goldwin, before being replaced by Maguire. A like for like substitution, with Maguire settling into the same role up top.
64'
E. Britto enters the game and replaces A. Pons.
Pons is replaced by Britto on the left wing. Gibraltar look like they've changed to a simple 4-5-1 here, perhaps in response to Ireland's dominance down both wings.
63'
Ireland have looked cumbersome tonight, but Robinson certainly hasn’t! Some dazzling footwork gets him away from Mascarenhas-Olivero, but his cross doesn’t beat the first man.
59'
Coleman and Robinson combine again, and eventually work the ball into the box where Hendrick has a fierce drive blocked by Chipolina.
54'
Hourihane gets a cross in this time, and Hogan rises only to see the ball limply bounce off his shoulder and comfortably into Goldwin’s arms. Ireland perhaps need to vary their build-up play sometimes – these crosses are becoming slightly predictable!
52'
Robinson darts inside from the right again and digs out a cross for McClean. However, McClean can only cushion a header across goal towards Stevens, whose shot from the edge of the box is well over the bar.
50'
The scrappy nature of the game continues, as Stevens scuffs a shot from distance before Gibraltar push forward and quickly surrender possession to Duffy.
48'
A quiet start to the second half, as the game struggles to get going. McClean's deep cross from the left has been one of the few attacking moments, but that was easily cleared by Chipolina.
45' +4
HALF-TIME: REPUBLIC OF IRELAND 1-0 GIBRALTAR
45' +3
Ireland look content to see out the half now; they’re sitting off Gibraltar as they roll it calmly through the back five.
45' +1
Gibraltar enjoy a brief spell of pressure, before McClean industriously tracks and back and heads clear a looping cross. Ireland break quickly, but Hogan’s angled cross is nervously cleared by Chipolina.
45'
The second half begins with Gibraltar attacking from right to left!
43'
Gibraltar’s corner is cleared and Ireland swiftly break, with McGoldrick feeding Hogan in behind down the right flank. Goldwin comes flying out, and even though Hogan scampers around the keeper he’s been driven far too wide and has to settle for a corner.
41'
Walker lofts in a free kick that’s comfortably cleared for a corner. Gibraltar will have to make these set pieces count if they want to find a way back into this game.
35'
Coleman and Robinson are electric together down that right side. Robinson is cutting inside at every opportunity, and it’s opening up acres of space for Coleman to maraud into. Gibraltar might need to change their formation and get another body out wide to help Mascarenhas-Olivero here.
33'
Coleman is causing all kinds of problems! He breezes past two Gibraltar defenders to get to the byline once more, before his threatening low cross is flicked just wide by Robinson.
31'
Ireland look much more energised now and Hogan lets another shot fly from distance, but it drifts narrowly wide.
29'
J. Chipolina is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
Breakthrough! Coleman scurries down the right side once more and this time his measured cross is met by the onrushing McGoldrick, whose tame effort is deflected in by an unfortunate Chipolina.
27'
Ireland will be used to being patient in these games though and will be prepared for this – six of their last seven goals in all competitions have come in the second half of play.
26'
Hourihane - who's normally so dangerous from set pieces - wastefully fires the free kick straight at the wall, before Coleman's cross evades everyone from the rebound.
25'
J. Olivero gets yellow.
Mascarenhas-Olivero hacks Hourihane down as he dances towards goal, offering Ireland a central free kick just outside the box. A simple yellow card for the referee to award there.
21'
Better from Ireland as Hogan almost releases McGoldrick with another inventive pass. McGoldrick is narrowly offside though, and his blocked shot from close range is for nothing.
19'
Gibraltar win a throw high up down Ireland’s left-hand side but squander the opportunity by surrendering the ball immediately.
17'
Ireland have created a few opportunities so far, but they’ll be frustrated with the pace of the game. There’s a real lack of intensity in their build up play, and it feels like a pre-season friendly right now. Gibraltar won’t mind this at all though - their defensive organisation has been excellent.
15'
The pressure is starting to creep up, with Ireland making a lot of progress down the right flank. Coleman finds his way to the byline before whipping in a cross that Chipolina hacks clear, forcing Ireland to build from the back once more.
13'
Hogan's been Ireland's brightest spark so far, as he turns his man once more before unleashing a scuffed effort from outside the box that doesn't trouble Goldwin.
12'
Ireland are trying to impose themselves upon the game now, and are passing the ball from side to side, probing for an opening. Eventually, they work it to Robinson but he's crowded out and Ireland have to rebuild again.
10'
A. Bardon enters the game and replaces L. Casciaro.
A cruel injury for Casciaro as he pulls up with a hamstring injury before 10 minutes have even elapsed. On comes Bardon, who will be making his last appearance for Gibraltar this evening – he’s retiring to move to the USA after this!
7'
Gibraltar may have lost 30 of their last 34 matches in all competitions, but they’ve been improving recently. Three of their victories have arrived in their last 10 games, and they’ll be pleased to still be holding onto their clean sheet so far.
5'
Ireland will be pleased with this bright start, but equally disappointed that neither of the two chances have been converted. At the other end De Barr makes a foray down the right flank, but Ireland close down the danger and win the ball back.
1'
The whistle sounds, and we’re underway. These sides will need no introduction to each other though - 30% of Gibraltar's European Championship qualifying games have now been played against Ireland!
Ireland immediately clip a high ball towards the corner flag, where Hogan’s industry forces a corner. While the first set-piece is cleared, the second is dangerous with Duffy heading narrowly over.

We’re just going through the anthems here in Ireland – kick off is seconds away!
Ireland will be keen to add to their one goal advantage in the second-half, especially with the possibility of goal difference becoming a factor in Group D. Gibraltar on the other hand, will continue to keep the game tight and hope that a moment of inspiration could shock Ireland and get them back on level terms.
Still, a lacklustre game wasn’t a surprise with the qualifier scheduled right at the end of the domestic season. Ireland will be thrilled to find themselves at the top of Group D now going into the summer break.
