Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Crystal Palace and Everton at Selhurst Park!
Everton made a slow start to last season but an impressive second half to the season earned them an eighth-place finish. Their defensive record in that time was second only to the Premier League winners, Manchester City, and the business they did during the transfer window has people tipping them to finish high up the table. Palace are first up for them and they will be hoping to get off to a good start at home after struggling to pick up points at Selhurst Park last season. They've added a few new names to their squad, but most importantly for them, they were able to keep star man Wilfried Zaha at the club.
CRYSTAL PALACE STARTING XI (4-4-2): Vicente Guaita; Joel Ward, Martin Kelly, Scott Dann, Patrick van Aanholt; Andros Townsend, Luka Milivojevic, James McArthur, Max Meyer; Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew.
CRYSTAL PALACE SUBS: Wayne Hennessey, Connor Wickham, James McCarthy, Victor Camarasa, Wilfried Zaha, Gary Cahill, Cheikhou Kouyate.
EVERTON STARTING XI (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford; Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne; Morgan Schneiderlin, Andre Gomes; Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Bernard; Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
EVERTON SUBS: Jonas Lossl, Moise Kean, Cenk Tosun, Theo Walcott, Tom Davies, Mason Holgate, Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
The teams are out on the field now, with kick-off just moments away.
Silva will be happy with how his side have played in the first half as Palace have rarely pushed forward, but Calvert-Lewin has struggled to get into the game. The final ball into the box hasn't been great for Everton and they'll need to improve on that in the second half. As for Palace, they haven't created too many notable chances and Hodgson might want to think about bringing on Zaha to give his side another attacking threat.
Silva will be happy with the clean sheet once again, as his side continue their good run of defensive performances, but he will be hoping that his side can show more in an attacking sense when they face Watford next weekend. The same can be said for Palace when they travel to Sheffield United as they had a few good chances but didn't threaten Everton enough to create a goal, especially after they gained a man advantage.
