Bayern kick off their DFB-Pokal defence with a trip to fourth-tier Energie Cottbus, who were in the Bundesliga just a decade ago. Niko Kovac’s side are set to begin their league campaign against Hertha Berlin next weekend, so this will be their first competitive fixture of the season. Meanwhile, Energie Cottbus have picked up six points from their first three games of the campaign after suffering relegation last term.
