Hello, and welcome to our LIVE coverage of this Premier League match as Arsenal host Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium!
Arsenal’s 4-0 rout of Standard Liege in the Europa League now makes it seven games in all competitions without a loss since their 3-1 defeat at Liverpool back in late August. Despite their recent unbeaten run, Unai Emery’s sixth-placed Gunners still have an air of vulnerability about them, especially with matches that they’re expected to win. However, with star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in sterling form, they remain strong favourites against a side who have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league.
In spite of their defensive frailties though, Bournemouth are only a point behind their hosts after making an encouraging start to their campaign which has propelled them to eighth in the league after only two losses, one of them being against champions Manchester City over a month ago. Eddie Howe’s Cherries have the pace and the talent to trouble the hosts’ backline, but it will be a tough ask for them to emerge from the Emirates with anything more than a point.
ARSENAL XI (4-3-3): Bernd Leno; Calum Chambers, Sokratis, David Luiz, Sead Kolasinac; Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka (c), Matteo Guendouzi; Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka.
And without further ado, let’s take a look at how both sides line up, starting with the hosts.
SUBSTITUTES: Ryan Fraser, Lewis Cook, Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld, Artur Boruc, Simon Francis, Lloyd Kelly, Andrew Surman.
BOURNEMOUTH XI (4-4-2): Aaron Ramsdale; Jack Stacey, Steve Cook (c), Nathan Ake, Diego Rico; Harry Wilson, Philip Billing, Jefferson Lerma, Joshua King; Callum Wilson, Dominic Solanke.
SUBSTITUTES: Rob Holding, Emiliano Martinez, Gabriel Martinelli, Kieran Tierney, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira, Joe Willock.
The players are out and kick-off is drawing near.
Emery will want another goal or two to seal the deal for his team, with Aubameyang quieter than he has been this season, while Howe will be looking for a more improved second-half display from the likes of creator-in-chief Harry Wilson and Joshua King as he will be aware of Arsenal’s defensive flaws that can be exploited at any time.
With the international break coming up soon, both sides will have a two-week hiatus before returning to domestic duties. Arsenal will travel up north to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on the 21st, while Bournemouth go back to hosting duties at the Vitality Stadium as they look to recover against promoted Norwich two days prior.
And that wraps up our coverage. We hope you enjoyed our commentary throughout the match, and until next time, goodbye!
