Even De Gea's up for the set-piece, but Pereira's delivery is too close to Dubravka and Newcastle survive.

Minute
Description
80'
Well, Man Utd are in real trouble here. They've seemed tired going forward all game and now they have to try and engineer a goal against a confident, well-set Newcastle defence in these last 10 minutes.
78'
M. Rojo gets yellow.
Rojo is booked for a foul on Saint-Maximin as Newcastle attempt to break again.
76'
Saint-Maximin and Willems pile forward down the left flank once more, but this time the away side do well to flood back in numbers and crowd the duo out.
74'
Man Utd try to respond immediately as Rojo rises highest from a free-kick, but his header drifts harmlessly over the bar.
72'
M. Longstaff has scored a goal for Newcastle United! Assist by J. Willems.
NEWCASTLE TAKE THE LEAD! What a moment for the debutant! Newcastle race away on another counter-attack, which culminates with Willems cutting the ball back to Matthew Longstaff, who leathers a blistering shot beyond De Gea from 20 yards into the bottom left corner!
Willems did brilliantly to remain composed there. He was in a strong position in the box, but he patiently waited for options before rolling a pass back towards the onrushing Matthew Longstaff!
68'
The game's just beginning to get a little stretched now! First Greenwood gets denied by a last-ditch block from Yedlin, before Saint-Maximin races into the Man Utd half and gets dispossessed by Maguire on the edge of the box.
66'
M. Greenwood enters the game and replaces Mata.
Mata is replaced by Greenwood, as Man Utd look to one of their youngest attackers to produce a match-winning spark.
65'
M. Almirón gets yellow.
Almiron dispossesses McTominay on the halfway line which instantly creates a two-on-two. The winger elects to go alone, and seems to skip past Maguire before tumbling just outside the box. However, the referee concludes that this was a dive, and shows Alimron a yellow card.
62'
McTominay attempts an ill-advised shot from almost 40 yards that Sean Longstaff charges down. However, the ball runs for Young who combines with Pereira to force a corner. From the resulting set-piece, Man Utd swing a delivery in on Dubravka who just about manages to punch clear.
60'
M. Rojo enters the game and replaces Diogo Dalot.
Dalot makes way for Rojo at right back. It seems like a strange change to make: Dalot was playing well and if anything, Man Utd needed a change in attacking position.
58'
Dalot plays James in down the right flank, and the Welsh winger advances towards the byline before drilling a cross in towards Rashford which Schar does excellently to cut out.
56'
A. Carroll enters the game and replaces Joelinton.
Joelinton is replaced by Andy Carroll as Newcastle search for an injection of energy up top.
54'
Man Utd win a corner that they once again swing in towards Maguire, and while Newcastle just about clear the inital delivery, their defenders miss the second cross, which narrowly misses Maguire before flying away for a throw-in.
52'
Tuanzebe angles a precise diagonal towards James, but the United winger is left isolated and Willems is able to press him into surrendering possession.
48'
The resulting set-piece is easily cleared, kickstarting a rapid break that ends with Saint-Maximin feeding Almiron who blazes a wild shot over the bar from 25 yards.
47'
F. Schär gets yellow.
Schar is booked for a cynical foul 30 yards from goal.
45' +2
HALF TIME: Newcastle 0-0 Manchester United
45'

42'
Newcastle win a corner after Joelinton just misses a cross and Willems' return delivery gets deflected behind. However, the set-piece is wasted with a long looping delivery that drifts past everyone.
40'
Pereira slaloms past the challenges of Clark and Longstaff, before curling an ambitious shot from 25 yards that whips straight into Dubravka's grasp.
36'
Thankfully, both players are okay to continue after a brief delay.

S. McTominay gets yellow.
McTominay is booked for a nasty, late lunge on Schar.
29'

25'
Newcastle attempt to break through Saint-Maximin again, but Man Utd manage to shut down his threat easily this time, as Tuanzebe rushes out of defence to stop his run.
23'
The away side win another free-kick in a promising position, but Young's delivery can't find an attacking head and Newcastle comfortably clear the danger again.
21'
Schar barges into James near the corner flag and concedes a cheap free-kick. From the set-piece, Mata curls in a looping delivery that Dubravka claims with ease.
19'
It's not quite clicking for the away side going forward right now. Openings have been hard to come by and whenever they try and quicken the tempo with a series of fast passes, there tends to be an error that promptly ends the move.
17'
McTominay and Mata combine well with a slick one-two on the edge of the penalty area, sending the former through on goal. However, the flag's raised against Mata's original position and the move is halted before McTominay can shoot.
15'
D. Yedlin gets yellow.
Yedlin is booked for a heavy challenge on James near the halfway line, in keeping with Newcastle's abrasive early style.
14'
Saint-Maximin runs at the heart of the Man Utd defence once again, before attempting a switch that gets deflected into the feet of Joelinton who can't quite manage to turn and engineer a shot in the penalty area.
13'
Newcastle are looking fresh and energetic at the moment. They're relentlessly snapping into challenges and offering Manchester United players very little time on the ball.
11'
Saint-Maximin skips past Dalot and Pereira down the left flank, before cutting inside and screwing a shot from 30 yards well wide of the near post.
9'
Willems does well to escape under pressure from Perreira, and he lofts a long ball upfield that Joelinto nods into the path of Saint-Maximin, but De Gea is on hand to sweep up any danger.
7'
The away side enjoy a long spell of possession, moving passes laterally between their midfielders. However, they make no headway and eventually Sean Longstaff steps in to clear the ball out of Newcastle's half.
3'
Fred gets yellow.
Fred received a deserved booking for his foul there.
Almiron drives at the backline again and the panic causes Fred to cynically trip him 25 yards from goal. The winger takes the resulting set-piece but can only fire a tame shot at the wall.
1'

Well, it's been a tight, cagey game so far. Newcastle will be thrilled that their compact formation has restricted Man Utd to few chances, and at the same time, they'll be pleased that they've carved out a few openings on the break. However, it's been another disappointing half for the away side. They've found it difficult to create anything going forward, and it surely won't be long before Solskjaer will look at changing things.
Looking ahead to the second period, you'd imagine Newcastle will continue to try and cautiously hit Man Utd on the counter-attack. So it'll be up to the away side to take the initiative and change the rather slow flow of the game in the second 45.
Hello and welcome to live commentary of this Premier League fixture between Newcastle United and Manchester United. The hosts enter this one having endured a difficult last few weeks; their last game was a 5-0 defeat to Leicester that pushed them down to 19th in the table – a strong result today would go a long way to arresting this slide. Manchester United, though, are under even more pressure. Solskjaer has led his side to a disappointing spot at 12th in the table, and when you combine this with the lack of goals and tepid football, his position is coming under increasing scrutiny.
That's all for now though, goodbye!
Manchester United remain in 12th, level on points with Sheffield United and Brighton - today's result will only increase the mounting pressure they're experiencing. Newcastle, meanwhile, climb out of the relegation zone and into 15th with a huge victory that could end up being crucial at the end of the season.
