FIRST HALF - Jordan kick off and we are underway in Amman!
Welcome to King Abdullah International Stadium in Amman where Jordan play host to Australia on Matchday 5 in Group B of the AFC World Cup Qualifiers.
With wins over Taiwan and Nepal and a draw against Kuwait, Jordan currently sit in second place in Group B. In front of a parochial home crowd, they will be desperate for a good performance this evening in the knowledge that a win will take them to the top of the group.
Australia lead Group B following some impressive performances over Kuwait, Nepal and Chinese Taipei. But these opponents present the Socceroos with their sternest test to date – Jordan have won three out of the past five meetings between the two nations including, most recently, a 1-0 victory over Australia in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
HALF TIME - Referee Ming blows his whistle and that will be half time at King Abdullah International Stadium! A tight first half dominated by the respective defences however it is Australia who head into the break with the advantage after a delightful through ball from Irvine set up Taggart for the opener. Jordan have had their moments however and so there is plenty to look forward to in the second half. At half time: Jordan 0 Australia 1.
FULL TIME - And there is the final whistle at King Abdullah International Stadium! An historic moment for Australia who register their first ever away win in Jordan - but the Socceroos were certainly made to earn the three points in the second half. Jordan completely dominated after half time and had several chances to draw level but some wasteful attempts combined with outstanding work in goal from Mat Ryan meant that the men in green and gold were able to hold on. At full time: Jordan 0 Australia 1.
