We're underway at Old Trafford.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Norwich City at Old Trafford.
After a decent spell over the Christmas period, United are in need of a response after suffering a three-match winless run since the turn of the year. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal before drawing on the road against Wolves in the FA Cup. The Red Devils were dismantled by Manchester City during the week in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final clash, leaving them with a huge challenge to overturn the deficit on the road. Solskjaer needs a performance from his team this afternoon and the pressure will be on them to prove a point against the Premier League's bottom club.
Norwich overcame Preston North End in the third round of the FA Cup last time out to advance in the competition. However, they're in a desperate battle to remain in the Premier League, starting the afternoon seven points adrift of safety. Daniel Farke's men are winless in their last eight matches in the top flight, with their last win coming against Everton in November. The Canaries have drawn their last two Premier League outings against Tottenham and Crystal Palace and that will give them confidence heading into today's contest.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams; Fred, Nemanja Matic; Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford; Anthony Martial.
MANCHESTER UNITED SUBS: Phil Jones, Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot, Daniel James, Luke Shaw, Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes.
NORWICH CITY (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Max Aarons, Christoph Zimmermann, Grant Hanley, Sam Byram; Alexander Tettey, Mario Vrancic; Emiliano Buendia, Kenny McLean, Todd Cantwell; Adam Idah.
NORWICH CITY SUBS: Moritz Leitner, Onel Hernandez, Jamal Lewis, Marco Stiepermann, Tom Trybull, Ralf Fahrmann, Ibrahim Amadou.
Norwich were on the back foot for the majority of the first half, but have shown in recent weeks an ability to grind out results. Daniel Farke will have been pleased with their effort in the opening period, but they need to sustain their display and add a touch of quality to find th equaliser.
United are next in action against Wolves during the week for their FA Cup third-round replay at Old Trafford, while Norwich host Bournemouth next week in the Premier League in a relegation six-pointer.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
