We're underway at the Stadio Olimpico.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Serie A clash between Roma and Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma were stunned last time out by Torino, suffering a 2-0 defeat on home soil as Andrea Belotti notched a brace for the visitors. The loss ended a run of seven matches unbeaten in all competitions and Paulo Fonseca will be desperate to get his team back to winning ways as soon as possible, although challenges do not come tougher than Juventus. They remain fourth in the table and a win would move them three points clear of Atalanta applying pressure in fifth place.
ROMA (4-2-3-1): Pau Lopez; Alessandro Florenzi, Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling, Aleksandar Kolarov; Amadou Diawara, Jordan Veretout; Nicolo Zaniolo, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Diego Perotti; Edin Dzeko.
ROMA SUBS: Bryan Cristante, Juan Jesus, Yildirim Mert Cetin, Cengiz Under, Nikola Kalinic, Bruno Peres, Leonardo Spinazzola, Daniel Fuzato, Antonio Mirante.
JUVENTUS (4-3-1-2): Wojciech Szczesny; Juan Cuadrado, Merih Demiral, Leonardo Bonucci, Alex Sandro; Adrien Rabiot, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi; Aaron Ramsey; Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala.
JUVENTUS SUBS: Mattia De Sciglio, Matthijs de Ligt, Douglas Costa, Danilo, Marko Pjaca, Gonzalo Higuain, Emre Can, Daniele Rugani, Carlo Pinsoglio, Federico Bernardeschi, Gianluigi Buffon.
Juve returned from the winter break with an emphatic performance to defeat Cagliari 4-0 at home last week. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick, continuing his excellent form in front of goal, while Gonzalo Higuain notched the other. Inter's draw with Atalanta has given the Bianconeri an opportunity to regain top spot in Serie A with a victory this evening and it's an opening Maurizio Sarri will be keen to capitalise on.
Roma have been the architects of their own downfall in the contest. Demiral was allowed to score at the back post from a set-piece and then Veretout's error allowed Dybala to steal possession and resulted in the penalty. There's enough quality in the home side's line-up to get back into the contest, but they have to display more composure across the field.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Roma are next in action against Parma on the road in the round-of-16 stage of the Coppa Italia during the week, while Juventus host Udinese in the same phase of the competition.
