Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of this Premier League clash between Tottenham and Norwich City!
Norwich collected just their fourth league success of the campaign with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, and Daniel Farke’s bottom-placed side can now move to within three points of safety with an unlikely victory against Mourinho’s men. The Carrow Road outfit will take confidence from their 2-2 draw with Tottenham over the festive period, but the relegation strugglers have been poor away from home this season after losing eight of the last 11 matches on their travels.
NORWICH (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Max Aarons, Christoph Zimmermann, Grant Hanley, Sam Byram; Alexander Tettey, Kenny McLean; Lukas Rupp, Ondrej Duda, Todd Cantwell; Teemu Pukki.
SUBS: Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, Gedson Fernandes, Davinson Sanchez, Paulo Gazzaniga.
TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris; Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Ryan Sessegnon; Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso; Lucas Moura, Dele Alli, Erik Lamela; Son Heung-Min.
SUBS: Josip Drmic, Marco Stiepermann, Ibrahim Amadou, Michael McGovern, Jamal Lewis, Onel Hernandez, Tom Trybull.
Tottenham enter the match following an underwhelming run of league form which has seen them fail to win any of their last four top-flight matches. Jose Mourinho’s side have also not scored in any of their last three Premier League matches, while last week’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in their FA Cup third-round replay represents their only success since Boxing Day. However, the north London outfit are still capable of closing the gap between themselves and fourth-placed Chelsea to six points with a victory in today’s clash.
Tottenham’s barren goalscoring run in their last three matches means they are now the only Premier League side yet to score in the league since the turn of the year, while they have not failed to score in four consecutive league games since September 2006. Mourinho’s side will now be looking to put things right against a Norwich outfit who have only scored five away goals this term.
The players are now gathering in the tunnel as kick-off edges closer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham will be satisfied with their performance in the first half, but there can be no doubt that Mourinho will demand even more intensity from his side in the second period. Norwich have already shown their ability to get the ball into promising positions with the likes of Cantwell and Rupp showing neat touches, and the hosts will now be in search of another goal to give themselves more of a cushion in the second half. It seems likely that the visitors will show increased attacking intent after the interval, so Tottenham must be wary of this while also being alert to any counter-attacking opportunities that may arise.
The players are back on the pitch as the second half draws closer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That's all for now. Thank you for following live coverage of this Premier League meeting!
Tottenham will now be hoping to build on this result by producing another victory when they travel to Southampton in the FA Cup over the weekend before their top-flight clash with Manchester City the following weekend, while Norwich now turn their attention to a trip to Burnley in the FA Cup before travelling to Newcastle in their next Premier League encounter.
