FULL-TIME: ASTON VILLA 2-1 LEICESTER CITY (3-2 ON AGGREGATE)
90' +6
Four minutes were added on at we have now played five of them. Maddison is fouled by Mings and takes the free-kick, which he fires straight into the wall.
90' +5
It is not over just yet as Leicester win themselves a late corner. Schmeichel goes up and nearly gets on the end of it. The ball does drop for Ricardo, but his shot is wayward and Villa are surely over the line.
90' +3
Trézéguet has scored a goal for Aston Villa! Assist by Ahmed El Mohamady.
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!!!! ASTON VILLA 2-1 LEICESTER CITY!!!!! TREZEGUET FIRES VILLA TO WEMBLEY!!! Ricardo is caught out of position, Trezeguet steps in behind him and guides Elmohamady's cross out of Schmeichel's reach. What a way to win it!
Maddison fouls Konsa and Villa have the chance to launch a free-kick into the box. It is flicked on by Hause but there is no shot at the end of it.
Elmohamady's cross was good and Trezeguet's finish at the back post even better.
90' +2
Vardy has been pretty terrible during his time on the field. He has the rarest of touches of the ball but only succeeds in helping it out of play.
90' +1
There is no doubt that the momentum is on Leicester's side as we enter the first of four added minutes. Iheanacho fails to find the target with his shot-from-nothing.
90'
JUST WIDE! Gray puts his fresh legs to good use down the left. His cross is not the best but Mings, who is starting to really struggle, can only help it behind for a corner. Evans gets on the end of the set-piece but heads wide.
88'
Maddison is nudged in the back by Luiz, who has already been cautioned. There is nothing malicious in it, though, and the referee is correct to just give him a talking to. Can one of these Midlands rivals find a late winner?
86'
D. Gray enters the game and replaces H. Barnes.
Gray replaces Barnes with around four minutes of normal time to play.
85'
Elmohamady flicks the ball down the line for Grealish. The Villa man is running on empty and his cross is aimed too close to Schmeichel.
Minute
Description
84'
Ahmed El Mohamady enters the game and replaces F. Guilbert.
Guilbert is off and Elmohamady on in his place as Villa make their final change of the match.
83'
SAVE! Davis plays a nicely-weighted pass into the feet of fellow substitute Trezeguet. The angle is against him and his shot is rather weak, making it comfortable for Schmeichel to keep out.
81'
We are around 10 minutes away from a penalty shoot-out at Villa Park. Leicester seem intent of snatching the win before then, though.
80'
OVER! Villa are having to seriously dig in at the back now. Iheanacho has a shot block and then heads a cross down into a dangerous zone. The hosts are unable to clear the danger, but Maddison guides a shot over the bar to kill the momentum.
78'
Maddison's pass deflects into the middle, where Mings is waiting to clear it. Villa's defenders look a little nervous when Maddison runs at them.
77'
Trézéguet enters the game and replaces A. El Ghazi.
El Ghazi is replaced by Trezeguet in Villa's second change of the match.
76'
Ç. Söyüncü gets yellow.
Soyuncu goes in hard on Grealish and is rightly cautioned by the referee Mike Dean.
75'
All of a sudden the visitors have a spring in their step as they look for a winner in normal time. Villa had a good chance to make it 2-0 and they may live to rue that missed opportunity. Fifteen minutes to go at Villa Park!
74'
Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been involved in eight goals in his last five appearances against Aston Villa (six goals, two assists).
72'
K. Ịheanachọ has scored a goal for Leicester City! Assist by H. Barnes.
Vardy has been on the field for more than 15 minutes and has had just one touch of the ball.
Barnes was going for goal with his shot, but it turned out to be the perfect assist for Iheanacho.
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!!! ASTON VILLA 1-1 LEICESTER CITY!!!! IHEANACHO EQUALISES!! For the second time in this two-legged tie, Iheanacho has equalised for Rodgers' side! It has a slice of fortune about it as Barnes' shot is scuffed to the back post, where the Nigeria international is able to quickly adjust his feet and convert.
71'
CHANCE FOR MADDISON! Leicester finally click into gear. Iheanacho and Maddison exchange passes but the latter is off balance when firing a first-time shot over the crossbar.
70'
A deep corner is met by Konsa at the back post. Having got the run on his marker, he should be doing better than heading over the bar.
69'
How big a moment will that Samatta miss a few minutes ago prove to be? Leicester have been nowhere near as threatening in the second half, but the game is starting to become stretched and there is still a good 20 minutes to go.
67'
K. Davis enters the game and replaces M. Samatta.
Samatta's Villa debut lasts 67 minutes. He is replaced by Davis as Smith makes his first change of the game.
66'
NEARLY A SECOND VILLA GOAL! What a cross this is from Grealish! He pops up on the right this time and sends a killer pass into the six-yard box that Samatta is unable to connect with. What a chance that was!
65'
Grealish crosses and Chilwell produces a vital defensive header to stop Guilbert converting from close range. That all came as a result of Schmeichel's weak clearance.
63'
Grealish tries to bend one into the top corner but only succeeds in sending the ball into the stands.
62'
Leicester have not really been able to get Vardy in behind Mings since he was brought on. Villa boss Smith has held off from making a change - maybe Mings will be okay to play on after all.
60'
Douglas Luiz gets yellow.
Konsa was booked for throwing the ball away a few minutes ago and Luiz is now cautioned for something similar.
SAVE! Barnes carries the ball into the box and Iheanacho takes over, curling a shot straight into the arms of Nyland.
59'
Villa centre-back Mings is still not looking comfortable after tweaking his hamstring. With the pace of Vardy to deal with, it will surely be a matter of time before he is replaced.
57'
E. Konsa gets yellow.
Konsa throws the ball away after a decision goes against him and the defender will now miss the final if Villa get there.
Soyuncu and Grealish squared up prior to that Villa substitution after the Leicester defender sent his opponent flying.
56'
J. Vardy enters the game and replaces Ayoze Pérez.
Vardy is brought on for Perez with 11 minutes of the second half played.
55'
Villa full-back Targett is not closed down and opts to shoot from range, but he drags the ball wide of the target. This has been a good spell for the hosts.
54'
Targett and Grealish are giving Leicester's defenders all sorts of problems when they link up. Grealish is played in by his left-sided team-mate, cuts inside and drills a shot wide.
53'
Mings appears to have picked up an injury of some sort after stretching for the ball. The Villa centre-back is okay to play on for now.
52'
Nakamba hacks down Maddison and is perhaps fortunate to escape a booking. Leicester have struggled for momentum over the last few minutes.
49'
There is no real change to the flow of the game from the first half - Leicester are still the side asking all of the questions, with Villa happy to back off and focus on the counter. Tielemans plays the ball into a dangerous area but there is no visiting player waiting to meet it.
47'
Barnes goes on a positive run forward and wins his side a corner at the end of it. The set-piece comes to little.
46'
RESTART! Leicester City, needing a goal to take this game to penalties, get us back up and running at Villa Park! Neither manager made any changes at half-time.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: ASTON VILLA 1-0 LEICESTER CITY
45'
Maddison loses possession and Villa break forward in numbers. A cross from the right is headed behind by Soyuncu.
44'
It has been one-way traffic for a good 10 minutes now. Leicester are being allowed to pass the ball around, with Villa forming a compact shape at the back. Will Rodgers turn to Vardy at the interval?
42'
Villa are happy to focus on defending now as we approach half-time. Ndidi floats a pass to Barnes and the youngster fails to keep it under control, giving the hosts a chance to regroup.
40'
Leicester are having to remain patient in search of a breakthrough goal. Maddison plays it to Chilwell, who lays it off to Barnes. It is worked back into the middle and then to the right, but it is cleared by Villa on the edge of the area before a shot or cross arrives.
38'
Ricardo is regularly getting outnumbered down the Villa left. The hosts get in behind again but Leicester manage to clear the danger. This has been a gripping first half at Villa Park!
36'
There was a second handball appeal for Leicester and the latest one had far more merit. Maddison's shot hit Nakamba on the arm and those are quite often given.
32'
Leicester have had 59 per cent of the ball and enjoyed the better of the chances, but it is Villa who lead this second leg and indeed the tie. El Ghazi is unable to keep the ball in play as the home side's latest attack fizzles out.
30'
Ricardo overhits his delivery to the back post and it goes straight behind for a goal-kick.
29'
Maddison has been Leicester's liveliest player and he again picks up the ball in some space. The England international drives forward and slices a shot off target - not his best attempt!
27'
Grealish spins away from Ndidi and earns a free-kick for his side. Villa knock the ball around and Grealish plays it through the Leicester defence to Guilbert, who is flagged for offside before crossing for Samatta to score. The celebrations are muted - Villa knew it was not going to stand.
25'
The tempo of the match has just dropped a little over the past few minutes, which will suit Villa more than their opponents. Rodgers will not be panicking just yet, though - Leicester still have 65 minutes to find a leveller.
23'
Leicester win a corner following some good play from Barnes. Konsa and Samatta head the ball as far as Ricardo, but the full-back's shot from range flies off target.
21'
El Ghazi's cross is brilliantly cushioned by Targett into the path of Grealish, whose shot is blocked. Leicester are seeing more of the ball but the chances have dried up.
19'
Leicester were dominant up until the moment Targett scored against the run of play. Since then it has been Villa in the ascendancy.
16'
CLOSE! El Ghazi gives Schmeichel a real scare from the free-kick. It flies over the Leicester wall but dips a little too late and Schmeichel, who took a step the opposite way, is glad to see it skim the roof of the net.
14'
That Targett goal came from Villa's first shot of the match. Leicester, by comparison, have had six shots and half of those have been on target. A frustrated Maddison fouls Grealish.
12'
M. Targett has scored a goal for Aston Villa! Assist by J. Grealish.
GOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!! ASTON VILLA 1-0 LEICESTER CITY!!! TARGETT SCORES AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY!! Leicester have dominated the opening 12 minutes, but it is Villa who take the lead. Grealish holds up the ball and flicks it into the path of full-back Targett, who thumps his shot across Schmeichel. Advantage Villa!
Grealish did brilliantly to pick up the ball, hold it up and then wait for the right moment to tee up Targett.
11'
That was a fine stop from Nyland. Maddison's shot came through a sea of bodies but he watched it all the way and helped it around the post.
10'
MADDISON AGAIN DENIED! Villa have had one bright moment, with Grealish's cross being cut out by Schmeichel, but it has otherwise been all Leicester. Maddison is picking up the ball in pockets of space and this latest attempt from range is again on target, though Nyland is equal to it down low.
8'
INCHES WIDE! Leicester look well up for this game. A cross from the right is not properly dealt with and it falls for Maddison to strike from the edge of the box. He does not get hold of the shot as he would have liked and it ends just wide of the target.
4'
SAVE! Mings gets himself all tangled up and Iheanacho bundles his way through before firing a shot away from a tight angle. Nyland is equal to it at his front post, but that is a real let-off for Villa and centre-back Mings.
2'
The arrival of Samatta means Villa have a different look to them compared to the first leg. Rather than playing with Grealish out of position through the middle, they now have an actual focal point in the side.
1'
KICK-OFF! Aston Villa get this EFL Cup semi-final second leg under way! Wembley awaits for one of these clubs.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the EFL Cup semi-final second leg between Aston Villa and Leicester City at Villa Park.
Leicester are flying high in third place in the Premier League and are also through to round five of the FA Cup, so Brendan Rodgers has set his sights on a treble of a different kind. All focus today is on the EFL Cup, with local rivals Villa - 23 points worse off in the Premier League - aiming to pull off an upset of sorts. The winner of this tie will face either Manchester City or Manchester United in the final.
Subs: Ahmed Elmohamady, James Chester, Trezeguet, Keinan Davis, Conor Hourihane, Henri Lansbury, Matija Sarkic.
ASTON VILLA XI (3-4-3): Orjan Nyland; Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause; Frederic Guilbert, Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba, Matt Targett; Anwar El Ghazi, Mbwana Samatta, Jack Grealish (c).
Subs: Dennis Praet, Marc Albrighton, Danny Ward, Jamie Vardy, Demarai Gray, James Justin, Filip Benkovic.
LEICESTER CITY XI (4-1-4-1): Kasper Schmeichel (c); Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu, Ben Chilwell; Wilfred Ndidi; Ayoze Perez, Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes; Kelechi Iheanacho.
The teams are coming out onto the pitch at the King Power Stadium, with kick-off just moments away.
Leicester cannot afford to panic and Rodgers will know that his side will surely score if they continue to play as they are. They have a half-fit Vardy among their subs - the big question now is whether the visitors gamble on his fitness by bringing him on for the start of the second half. As for Smith, he has the likes of Hourihane, Trezeguet and Elmohamady on the bench.
The Midlands rivals played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg three weeks ago after Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to cancel out Frederic Guilbert's opener. The reverse fixture at the King Power Stadium proved to be entertaining and we could potentially go to penalties today if the scoreline remains level after a further 90 minutes.
Nyland produced a number of impressive saves for Villa in the first half and deserves just as much credit as the two goalscorers. Smith now has a final to prepare for in a little over a month's time, but before then focus turns back to their battle for Premier League safety and a trip to fellow strugglers Bournemouth on Saturday. As for Leicester, they need to pick themselves up in time for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday.
That's all for today's live coverage. Thanks for joining!
