Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of Duren versus Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal!
Fifth-tier side 1. FC Duren will be hoping to shock the reigning German champions tonight and place their name in DFB-Pokal history. Hansi Flick’s Bayern on the other hand will be looking to progress past the first round and defend their German cup title after winning the competition last season.
Duren have had to wait for their encounter with the champions of Europe as this tie was originally scheduled to take place during mid-September along with the other first round fixtures. It’s also the home sides debut in the DFB-Pokal, having only been founded as a club in late 2017. Despite being the home side though, tonight’s clash will be played at the Allianz Arena in Munich with Duren foregoing their right to host the tie at their Westkampfbahn.
DUREN (4-5-1): Kevin Jackmuth; Jannis Becker, Joran Sobiech, Mario Weber, Markus Wipperfurth; Gjorgji Antoski, Adis Omerbasic, David Putz, Marvin Stormann, Philipp Simon; Marc Brasnic.
DUREN SUBS: Patrick Bade, Gunter Mabanza, Tiziano Lo Iacono, Adam Matuschyk, Baris Sankaya, Kanischka Taher, Mardochee Tchakoumi, Daniel Bleja, David Bors.
BAYERN MUNICH SUBS: Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Jann-Fiete Arp, Angelo Stiller, Kilian Senkbeil, Daniels Ontuzans, Leon Dajaku, Armindo Sieb, Alexander Lungwitz.
BAYERN MUNICH (4-2-3-1): Alexander Nubel; Bouna Sarr, Niklas Sule, Jerome Boateng, Alphonso Davies; Javi Martinez, Marc Roca; Douglas Costa, Thomas Muller, Jamal Musiala; Eric Choupo-Moting.
The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick-off is just moments away.
With Bayern now 2-0 up at the break, a third goal would surely finish this tie. Either way, expect to see Hansi Flick give some of Bayern’s youngsters a run from the bench in the second half.
Thank you for following our coverage of tonight's DFB-Pokal first round match. In the meantime, stay safe!
Next up for Bayern Munich is a trip to Bundesliga newcomers Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday evening whilst Duren return to action in the fifth-tier with a trip to Siegburger SV.
