Guerreiro earns the hosts a free-kick on the left-hand side but Sancho crosses straight into the hands of Dahne. For all of Dortmund's first-half brilliance, their set-pieces in the second half have left much to be desired.
86'
S. Lorenz gets yellow.
Lorenz clatters into the back of Brandt, standing on his heel, and rightfully gets booked by the referee.
85'
Porath's cross from the left takes a few deflections and looks destined for Arslan at the back post. Akanji, however, has different ideas as he races across to hook away a clearance in front of Hitz's goal.
84'
Wahl intervenes at the near post to avert the danger from Guerreiro's cross from wide on the right. Sancho goes short from the corner and, as has been the case all half, the visitors clear.
82'
Porath flicks on for Hauptmann, who knows he is offside but still goes towards the ball to make sure Dortmund can't play quickly from open play. After taking a five-goal advantage in at the break, Terzic's men have cruised through this second half.
80'
Bellingham lifts the ball through for the run of Sancho into the area and Komenda is forced into turning behind for a corner. Akanji tries to meet the set-piece but Holstein manage to clear.
78'
Reinier drifts wide and Sancho plays towards the substitute, who rather sensibly opts to play backwards and retain possession in the right-hand channel as this game heads towards its conclusion.
76'
B. Girth enters the game and replaces Lee Jae-Sung.
Girth comes on for Lee as Werner continues to make changes in the second half, perhaps with one eye on their league campaign.
74'
T. Meunier enters the game and replaces Mateu Morey.
Morey leaves the pitch after what looks like a bad ankle injury and Meunier comes on to replace the full-back.
Minute
Description
68'
J. Mees enters the game and replaces F. Bartels.
Mees is Werner's next change as he replaces Bartels.
66'
Sancho drives his team up the pitch and his deflected shot wins Dortmund their third corner of the half. Sancho takes the corner himself but Holstein stand firm to flick away a headed clearance at the near post.
64'
Porath swings in another free-kick from wide on the left and Hummels turns behind for a corner. The last five minutes or so have been dominated by the away side, who are still yet to make their possession count.
62'
Mateu Morey enters the game and replaces Ł. Piszczek.
T. Delaney enters the game and replaces E. Can.
Reinier enters the game and replaces M. Reus.
Delaney replaces Can, who assisted Reus' goal, in the middle.
Piszczek makes way at right-back and Morey takes his place.
Reinier wanders on and Reus is the man to come off.
61'
The home side's corner comes to nothing as they once again go short to no success. On the touchline, Terzic seems to be preparing another change as he looks to rest some of his stars before the Leipzig game next weekend.
59'
Sancho touches inside for Guerreiro, who gets brought down from behind by the sliding challenge of Bartels. The midfielder argues but the hosts get a free-kick on the left, which gets headed behind for a corner.
58'
Brandt looks to sneak a pass through four Holstein defenders but they manage to divert away for a corner. Reus goes short from the set-piece before Sancho curls well wide of the target.
56'
The away side have a chance to cross from a wide set-piece but Porath throws it away as he finds the hands of Hitz inside the area. The substitute gestures to his centre-backs they should've made a different run but they disagree.
54'
Dahne rushes out to collect Sancho's wayward pass after a decent run forward by Bellingham. Dortmund, however, are lacking the fluency they showed in the first half.
52'
As was the case in the first half, the visitors have started positively but have nothing to show for their hard work. Arslan stings the hands of Hitz from range, which signifies the first chance by either side in the second half so far.
48'
Porath thinks he is in on the left-hand side, after evading the attentions of Piszczek but the assistant flags against the substitute for offside.
46'
J. Brandt enters the game and replaces G. Reyna.
P. Neumann enters the game and replaces J. Dehm.
F. Porath enters the game and replaces F. Reese.
The second half is under way!
Werner makes a double change at half-time. The first of which sees Neumann replace Dehm.
Reyna is denied the chance of a hat-trick as he comes off at half-time for Brandt.
Reese also comes off at half-time and Porath is the man to replace him.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 5-0 HOLSTEIN KIEL
41'
J. Bellingham has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by J. Sancho.
GOALLL! 5-0 DORTMUND! Bodies are in the way of Dahne’s goal as Sancho twists and turns, attempting to shoot. The Englishman eventually chooses to tee up his fellow Englishman, Bellingham, who sees his right-footed strike deflected by Lorenz. Dahne, wrong-footed by the deflection, is powerless to stop the effort and Bellingham extends Dortmund’s lead to five.
Sancho fakes one way and the other, considering shooting from inside the area before spinning and rolling a simple pass to Bellingham. The English midfielder strikes a low, right-footed attempt which gets deflected by Lorenz before ending up in the back of the net.
39'
Space opens up for Hazard inside the area but the Belgian pulls a right-footed strike well wide of Dahne's goal to the left. Werner's side need half-time to regroup and compose themselves, given Dortmund's excellent first-half finishing and dominance.
37'
Reyna and Reus both try and fail to find Piszczek on the right-hand side. When Can eventually manages to play in the right-back, his cross is weak and Wahl comfortably clears into the left-hand channel.
36'
N. Hauptmann gets yellow.
Yellow Card Niklas Hauptmann
35'
Hazard puts his hand in the air to apologise as his throughball is far too powerful for the run of Reyna. The American keeps finding pockets of space and a first senior hat-trick for the hosts could be on the cards for him here.
34'
Amazingly, Holstein are 4-0 down within just over 30 minutes without playing that badly. They have looked assured in possession, yet every time Dortmund go down the other end they score. Terzic's men, with their quality in the final third, are highlighting the difference between the two German tiers and look to be coasting into the final.
32'
T. Hazard has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund!
GOAL! 4-0 DORTMUND! Lee’s pass inside gets diverted by Meffert, which catches Wahl out of position in the middle. Hazard capitalises, outpacing the centre-back pairing as he drives into the area before tucking a left-footed finish into the bottom right corner past Dahne.
30'
A. Arslan enters the game and replaces J. Serra.
Serra goes down injured off the ball and Arslan is the man who comes on to replace the forward.
26'
M. Reus has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by E. Can.
Dortmund remain patient, working possession on the left-hand side, with the ball eventually finding Can. The midfielder clips a delicate pass over the top of Holstein's defence for Reus, who takes a touch before slotting through the legs of Dahne in the visitors' goal.
GOALLLLL! 3-0 DORTMUND! The home side work possession intricately around the area, with Reus offloading to Can before making a forward run into the area. The German midfielder spots the forward’s run, chipping a pass over the top of the defence. Reus takes one touch, bringing it down with his left before sliding through the legs of Dahne with his right foot from the left of goal to make it 3-0.
24'
Terzic will be delighted with the hosts' start and, being two goals to the good before half-time, it may make his second-half decisions easier if he wants to rest some of his stars. For now, however, Dortmund remain 2-0 up and Holstein, despite a good start, are struggling to respond.
22'
G. Reyna has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund!
GOALLLLLL! 2-0 DORTMUND! Reyna grabs another as he taps into an empty net from inside the six-yard area. All credit should go to Reus, who did incredibly well to drive into the area before pulling across for Guerreiro, whose deflected shot rolled into the path of Reyna inside the six-yard box and the American simply couldn't miss from there.
21'
Reese runs at Piszczek, twisting and turning past him, which forces Akanji to come across. The centre-back covers well and Reese's left-footed strike from inside the area tamely trickles into the hands of Hitz.
20'
Sancho puts his hands on his head as he feels he should make a better connection with a header inside the area. Initially, Piszczek had driven down the right before crossing towards the penalty spot with his left foot.
19'
Werner's men have a speculative shot on Hitz' goal through Wahl but the midfielder's long-range effort never looks like troubling the goalkeeper as it sails high over the bar.
18'
Hazard and Dortmund throw their arms up in the air as the referee offers a free-kick to the away side. Despite going a goal down, Holstein don't appear too worried as Komenda wins another free-kick in a good position in the left-hand channel.
16'
G. Reyna has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by J. Sancho.
Sancho wanders out to the left, receiving the ball from defence before twisting and turning to get inside. The Englishman then offloads to Reyna, who takes one touch before finding the bottom right corner with a precise, right-footed effort from the edge of the area.
GOALLLLLLLL! 1-0 DORTMUND! Sancho receives possession on the left-hand touchline, driving inside before feeding Reyna. The American takes one touch into the area before powering a low, right-footed strike into the bottom right corner. The visitors allowed both Reyna and Sancho far too much time to think there and they have been punished.
15'
Holstein have the chance to attack on the left flank but Reese, rather sensibly, opts to play inside and keep possession. Werner gestures on the touchline that his team should have attacked; however, for now they remain with the ball at their feet in defence.
13'
Hazard gets rolled in by Can but he can only skew his right-footed effort from the right of goal well wide of the target. The hosts think they should have a corner, courtesy of a deflection off Lorenz, but the referee disagrees and awards a goal-kick.
12'
Bellingham goes in late on Meffert but the referee plays advantage, allowing Reese to attack down the left. The visitors' midfielder looks for the head of Serra inside the area, but Hummels and Akanji combine to remove the danger.
10'
Reyna carries the ball through the centre, offloading to Sancho, whose attempts to cross from the left gets blocked at the first time of asking by Dehm. Reus was ready and waiting in the middle to challenge Dahne but the final pass just lacked quality.
9'
Holstein pin the hosts in and win possession high up the pitch. Reese then powers down the left-hand channel, crossing towards the front post, where Hummels miscues a right-footed clearance away. The away side have started positively and don't appear intimidated by their Bundesliga opponents.
7'
Sancho drops his shoulder to easily beat Bartels before sliding through Reus, who looks for Bellingham in the middle. Wahl is on hand, however, to intervene at the near post before the Englishman can test Dahne.
6'
Can needlessly fouls Bartels in the middle of the park and the visitors opt to play the free-kick short. Terzic's men intercept and Reyna misses the chance to counter-attack as his throughball for Reus gets cut out by Wahl near the halfway line.
2'
Reyna drives down the right-hand channel and crosses for Reus, however, Lorenz does well to flick away a clearance before the Dortmund forward can capitalise.

Referee Christian Dingert gets this game under way!

Dortmund come into this game full of confidence after winning four successive league games to bring them back into Champions League qualification contention. To reach this stage of the cup, the hosts defeated Borussia Monchengladbach in the quarter-final stage, after negotiating their way past Duisburg, Eintracht Braunschweig and Paderborn in previous rounds.
This is the first time the visitors have reached the DFB-Pokal semi-final stage since 1941. Ole Werner’s side pulled off a remarkable victory on penalties over Bayern Munich in the second round and most recently cruised past Essen to put themselves one game away from the final. In the league, Ole Werner’s side are fourth and in the race for a promotion play-off position as they look to reach the Bundesliga for the first time in their history.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND (4-2-3-1): Marwin Hitz; Lukasz Piszczek, Mats Hummels, Manuel Akanji, Raphael Guerreiro; Emre Can, Jude Bellingham; Jadon Sancho, Thorgan Hazard, Giovanni Reyna; Marco Reus.
HOLSTEIN KIEL (4-1-4-1): Thomas Dahne; Jannik Dehm, Hauke Wahl, Simon Lorenz, Marco Komenda; Jonas Meffert; Fin Bartels, Niklas Hauptmann, Jae-Sung Lee, Fabian Reese; Janni Serra.
That is all from this DFB-Pokal semi-final clash. Until next time, thanks for joining us!
Dortmund’s next game sees them host RB Leipzig, who they will also face in the DFB-Pokal final on May 13, as they remain in pursuit of Champions League qualification in the Bundesliga. Holstein Kiel, whose remarkable cup run comes to an end here, next face SV Sandhausen on Tuesday as they chase promotion to the German top-flight.
Terzic will be delighted with his side's first-half excellence as it means he can rotate and rest whoever he likes in the second half. Whether it be the likes of Sancho, Reyna or Reus, the hosts may make early changes as they look ahead to RB Leipzig next weekend. Werner, in contrast, will simply be asking for his men to play with pride, given the unlikelihood of a minor miracle in this cup tie in the second half.
