Gassner gets the game underway for Liechtenstein!
Portugal are starting this qualifying campaign under new management, with Roberto Martinez taking charge of his first game. After nine years at the helm, Fernando Santos left following their quarter-final exit to Morocco in the World Cup. They lost four of their last nine outings under him in all competitions (W5), including their last competitive home match against Spain in the Nations League. There's also been a change in manager for Liechtenstein after Martin Stocklasa left at the start of the month, so Rene Pauritsch is their caretaker for the time being. They're on a torrid run, failing to win any of their last 25 games in all competitions (D3 L22), with their last victory coming back in October 2020. They've never qualified for a major tournament.
PORTUGAL STARTING XI (5-3-2): Rui Patricio; Joao Cancelo, Danilo Pereira, Ruben Dias, Goncalo Inacio, Raphael Guerreiro; Bruno Fernandes, Joao Palhinha, Bernardo Silva; Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Felix.
PORTUGAL SUBS: Antonio Silva, Rafael Leao, Otavio, Nuno Mendes, Diogo Jota, Diogo Dalot, Jose Sa, Ruben Neves, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Celton Biai, Joao Mario.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Euro 2024 qualifier in Group J between Portugal and Liechtenstein at the Estadio Jose Alvalade!
The teams are out on the pitch, the national anthems have been sung, and kick-off is just moments away!
Today's appearance for Ronaldo is a record-breaking one as it is his 197th for Portugal. The 38-year-old now stands alone as the most-capped men's international footballer of all time.
Martinez will be pleased with what he's seen for the most part. They barely gave the visitors a sniff of the ball, but he'll want to see an improvement in their finishing so they can put this game out of sight. Pauritsch won't have too many complaints either - his side have stayed compact at the back, and they're still in this tie.
That win gives Portugal an early lead in Group J on goal difference, and it's the perfect start for Martinez at the helm. Next up for them is a trip to Luxembourg. Liechtenstein currently prop up the group as their long winless run goes on. They host Iceland next time out.
